Hello everyone! Today I’m talking about the ridiculousness that is the Mara Dyer trilogy!
SPOILERS ARE AHEAD!!!!!!!!
Rating: F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.
“Thinking something does not make it true. Wanting something does not make it real.”
*this quote is so true because i was thinking this trilogy was great and i wanted to believe that it could still be good but no.
The plot of this story is that Mara and her friends are in accident and Mara is the only survivor. Mara has no one about what happens but she can’t seem to let it go. Her family moves to Florida to try and forget the accident and Mara begins to start seeing her friends and boyfriend that die in the accident. Mara mets Noah who’s the only person who doesn’t think she’s crazy. But he’s her love interest so you know. Mara’s memories start to come back to her and we find out the her old boyfriend tried to rape her which is add to make him seem like the bad guy I guess *THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT OKAY. Then we find out the old boyfriend is alive. PLOT TWIST!!!!!!!! not really.
This trilogy is one that is talked about through out the book world and at first I really wanted to read it because of how much it was talk about. Everyone said it scary and had so many twist that made this trilogy amazing so I went and checked it out. And hated it. I didn’t even finished it because I thought Mara Dyer was just soo annoying. But then this year I made the choice to reread it. The book was better the second time around and I like it better. I wanted to know if Mara really killed her friends and her boyfriend and if she really could see ghost.
The story goes back and forth between the real life or Mara’s insane dreams. Mara also discover that when she thinks about their deaths the people die that way. It’s crazy. Noah was okay for the love interest but he’s played off as the bad boy who turns out to be a nice guy. I don’t ship them. They are why to cliche for me too and they both soooo annoying. Noah is first played play off as a bad boy but the more he’s in the story the more a loser he becomes. The first book is good but after that it all goes down hill for here.
Everyone is a little crazy. The only difference between us and them is that they hide it better.”
This book was just the beginning of the let’s just act we know what happening in this book. The book starts off with Mara waking up in a mental hospital because she saw her ‘dead’ boyfriend and started screaming at him and no one else saw him. The story still goes on with the whole is it real or not dream sequences. The thing about the is it real or not real is that it can only go on for so all before the story stop being good and stops making sense *well as much sense as mara dyer can make.
There’s this girl at the mental hospital named Phoebe who hates Mara and is being brainwashed by the old boyfriend. She sends Mara weird messages tells everyone that Mara is trying to kill her. It turns out that the old boyfriend believes that Mara can bring his sister back to life and until she does he is threatening to kill Mara’s family. Mara and Noah *because they’re still together even though they said half the time that they don’t don’t what to hate each other team up together to try and kill the other evil boyfriend. Then you know stuff happens and then Mara woke up again and she is told that Noah is die. And guess what? She believes that he isn’t.
This book went off the rails and it was much longer than it need to be. If this book knew what it what to do then maybe it would have good and if it had been good it should have end there because there is no need for three books. I should have just jumped ship right but I just went right on with the next and final book. Thank god!
“Maybe sometimes we can only see the truth about ourselves if someone shows us where to look.”
The last and final book in the Mara Dyer trilogy. YAY!!!! It’s almost over. Here’s the story of this. Mara and two others escape the mental hospital with the help of the crazy evil boyfriend. Mara gets scared that’s she pregnant even though she’s never do it but cuts her stomach anyway. The rest of the story is just them looking for Noah and when they do find him, Noah’s dad tries to her. They get through it because the two are such a ‘power couple’ *yeah right. Mara and Noah decide to kept their relationship going even though Mara is crazy. There is a big reason why I hate this series and it’s because the final line in the book.
“My name is not Mara Dyer, but my lawyer told me I had to choose something.”
*SCREAMING OUT OF ANGER BECAUSE OF ALL THE LIES
The series is called Mara Dyer. All the books are titled the something of Mara Dyer. But the last line says THAT HER NAME ISN’T MARA DYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe I just missed something but this is worst ending I have ever read. I can’t believe I stopped reading the Wheel of Time books for this. I should have never given this book a second chances. The last line isn’t why I hate the series. I hate this series because it had so much hope and so many chances to be a good book but it choose not ignore way to make it better. The first book starts off as a creepy mystery that pulls us into story but by the last two books you’re ready to jump ship.
The story choose to be confusing and complex in away that makes the story unread. This series lost it like Mara Dyer’s sanity. The author of the story had confirm a spin off to Mara Dyer called the Shaw Chronicles a story about Noah and Mara later in life and from the summary it sounds our friend Mara is going off the deep in just like this series did. I don’t reccomand this series because it’s not to stick around and hope for something to make sense. But that’s just my opinion. Sorry not sorry if you don’t agree but that’s how the world works.
