If you don’t know I have a book club called Epic Adaptations where every month I pick a book that has been adapted into a book or movie and then I’ll review both and then I compare it. For October I picked The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood which was adapted into a show by Hulu. You may have heard of it because it would so many emmys and I’m glad it did because it was amazing, I have a whole review for the book so check that out right here.

This show was amazing. The acting was amazing, the filming was amazing, the aesthetic of the whole shows was wonderful, and the feel of the book is in the show which I loved! They did such a great job just capturing everything and putting it together. I have to give out a warning if you want to watch this show there are some graphic scenes so I won’t let like a youngen watch this show because some scenes are hard to watch. If you old enough though and have Hulu I would 100% recommend this show and the book too because it was so amazing! I love watching this show that sounds wrong because this show deals with a lot of hard stuffs but it’s just so amazing and great.

The girl who played Offred is great and she won an Emmy so that should show. All the other actors are great because they make you either love or hate their characters which is great when you hate them because you known you are suppose to hate them. The show is amazing and it’s very close to the book but then in some ways they changed a lot to add on to the story because they were things that either weren’t answered in the book or they were in the book but they were put in a different order. Like her real name being June, that’s not a thing that was talked about in the book. You never learn her real name but one scene the name June is mentioned and fans of the book labeled her as June and they wrote it into the show. Scenes are out go of order like the Doctor’s appointment was earlier in the book but that was in like episode four.

I’m not complaining about that though because I enjoyed that they did it that way. It’s different from other book to movie adaptations because they change things to the story for some reason and it doesn’t add anything to the story but when they change the story in this it stills adds onto the story. Another thing that I think was good was the fact they give more information on some of the characters like her husband, Moira, and Ofglen. Alexis was fucking fantastic as Ofglen that scene with her watching the girl getting hanged was so sad. All the actors and actress were so good!!! Just watch this show it’s great! And we are getting a season two which I’m excited about because the book just ends and the season one ends the same way so we are getting more and hopefully it will be good.

Accuracy: 75%

Like I said it’s basically the same story but they did change a couple of things. It’s not something I would complain about though because it’s still a fantastic show. The show and the book are both wonderful stories that play out so well. I can not stresses this enough guys just please watch this show. It’s so great!

Rating: +A for being amazing and scary just like the book

I enjoyed this show and I would recommend that everyone who likes the book to go and watch it because you will enjoy it. Have you guys watched this show? What did you think of it?
