Books I Read This Month! | February 2018

Hey guy! Welcome to another blog post about what I read! So my last entry wasn’t great as i gave up half way through writing it. I read so many books last month that I had to take a break from not only reading but forming writing because i had the biggest stress headache ever! Also I didn’t read anything that I had a lot of opinions on. I either really liked it or didn’t like it and I re read so many books because I was stressed and I didn’t want to get into a new world. I read more then 15 books this month! Hopefully that is different this time around. I mean I still re read books because I’m me.

The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett by Chelsea Sedoti

25546710

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I weirdly liked this book. A lot more then I thought I would. I liked Hawthorn as a lead and the way she feels like she has to figure out what happens and how she puts herself into Lizzie’s life. It isn’t perfect. I found the last half of the book to be the best part of the book. The rest of it is good but I would lose interest from time to time. I had fun and liked some of the elements this book had.

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger

10757771

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

I love Kody Keplinger because her books are cheesy and fun and I always have a good time reading them. I did have a good time reading this book but out of the three books I’ve read by this author including this one it’s my least favorite. In case you didn’t know I’m not a big fun of the party going teenagers cliche it can ruin a book for me. This trope isn’t a big part of book it did come up which sucked. This book has a lot more cliches then her other books which was a downer for me as her books have been fun and cheesy but they have felt real and this one didn’t. I did like this book and how all the girls come to together and talk about sex without judging each other which was nice because there is slut shaming and judging girls for not having sex in this book. I don’t like slut shaming or judging girls for not wanting sex so that moment was great. This book is fun and I did like it even though there were a lot of cliches.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

scythe-9781442472433_hr

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I read this book because Christine Riccio has been talking about on her youtuber channel. Yeah. It sounded real cool though like people aren’t dying and there are people who control who dies. I will be reading the sequel when I get my hands on it because this world is so cool and amazing and I loved reading about it. There were so parts were I was bored because there was a lot of information in this book so I’m hoping that book two won’t be as slow because we’ve learned so much about this world. I enjoyed this book and I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy and dystopians and sci fi because I don’t know what to call this book.

After We Collided by Anna Todd

81iwgTvwHGL

F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.

*this review wasn’t supposed to be this long sorry! Does this book have a toxic relationship? Yes
Does this book make a character who was tries to help get the girl out of this relationship look bad? Yes
Is this book written well? No not really
Is the plot good? There isn’t a plot really

This book as a lot of flaws (The four main ones are the ones up there) and the relationship is toxic. Super toxic. The characters aren’t the best. Tessa tries to be a strong heroine but a lot of time she isn’t. Hardin is one of my least favorite male leads I’ve read in a book. Sometimes as this book as chapters in his POV I would feel bad and think he was growing as a character but then he acts like an ass and we are back to square one. The character Zed is made to look like a villain even though he is just trying to get Tessa out of this relationship as all Hardin does is betray her and treat her like she is beneath him. Landon continues to be my favorite and he is in like less then five percent of this book. Also the plot is Tessa and Hardin breaking and getting back together and then breaking up again and then getting back together. It’s annoying and barely a plot. The sex scenes are so bad I couldn’t even read them. I tried to but the writing is so cringing. Half the time they have sex in public places or with people around and you have to wonder don’t they see?

Look this book has its flaws and I wouldn’t say that I loved it as I’m not a romance lover. I don’t know if I’ll continue this series unless book three is on sale or I somehow get a copy for free. I’m not saying it’s bad I mean at some points I was weirdly interested in the story but then Hardin would do something stupid and over react and Tessa would cry and I wonder how these two haven’t realized they need to break up? They need to through there is a scene where Tessa tells Zed that all the bad things Hardin has done is her fault which ISNT TRUE!! God this is so unhealthy! I got what I wanted out this book. I wanted a read that I didn’t have to focus on and read easily, something that I knew I wouldn’t love but I wouldn’t hate. Also is no one talking about the fact that the author took a line from Wuthering Heights and people are now crediting her for that line. Just me?

Speaking of Wuthering Heights this book really wants to be Wuthering Heights as both the leads are compared to Catherine and Heathcliff but hey AT LEAST WUTHERING HEIGHTS WAS INTERESTING!!! The author also really wants Hardin to be like Will Herondale which isn’t possible honey. There is one Will and you can’t replace him!!!! I think I like the first book more even though I didn’t really enjoy that book either as like this one it’s about six hundred pages long and nothing happens!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I should see the movie when it comes out because that would be one fun review.

Also the slut shaming in this book is terrible. Why do we always have to turn girls against each other to cause drama? I have a full review coming soon.

The Shining by Stephen King

11588

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I really enjoyed the Shining. I didn’t like I would because there is a lot of hype over this book and I don’t like scary things but I really enjoyed this book. It was more creepy then scary and it’s super intense. That last half was probably as I was on the edge of my seat scared about what was going to happen. Watching the path the characters go down is so interesting to read about. Honestly it was great book and I’m glad that I read it.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

twilight-meyer

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

This is my third time reading Twilight or forth I can’t remember but I like it. Okay shut up leave me alone. It’s not perfect, it’s far from perfect but it’s enjoyable and I like it which is all that matters. Yes Edward is not a perfect boyfriend and Bella is far from a great female role model but I can relate to her with her love of books and weirdly even though he isn’t a good boyfriend Edward can be entertaining at times. They are both sarcastic. I do see it’s flaws and I understand why people don’t like it but I’m entertained by this book and for me that is all that matters for me.

Wide Awake by David Levithan

23231

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

David Levithan is one of my favorite authors and I’ve wanted to read this book for a while but unfortunately I didn’t like it. Maybe if I read this at a different time then maybe I would have liked this more. Look I liked the relationship in this book and I wish that they had more of a focus in this book but they didn’t. It’s more about the politics and how it affects everyone. The book is also really short which before with most of his books but with this one that was an issue as it felt as if the story started and then it ended. The drama was over in like a flash. It was like I’m here you just can’t see me! I loved David Levithan and I’m so sad to say that I didn’t like one of his books. But I still have Every Day!

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

9780316036726_mres

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

This is like my third time reading New Moon and New Moon is my favorite book in the Twilight series. Everyone hates it because Edward wasn’t there and they broke up but I loved it because of how angsty it was which was amazing! I love sad romance books! They are my bread and butter. Twilight was like fake angst but this is the real stuff! Only problem is Jacob, who is my least favorite character ever. He is so annoying and the unrequited love crap with Bella was just NO! It wasn’t just a jealousy thing it was he was just so annoying and passive aggressive and I hate werewolves. All the werewolves shit was terrible. All I cared about was Bella being sad and Edward being really sad.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

33385229

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

It was so beautiful and wonderful and I’m crying. I’m doing a full review soon but basically this was my second time re reading this book and I think I loved it more the second time around because the first time I was so worried about when they were going to die. This time though I felt more of impact because I wasn’t on edge and I loved this book so much. I’ve learn cried reading an Adam Silvera book I usually just have a break down but this time I cried and I feel like I have to cry more even though I can’t seem to!!! This book is amazing everyone should read it.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling

51oKzLklm7L

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I love Harry Potter. That’s not a secret. I read this after the ACT because I just wanted to read something fun and good and Harry Potter always comes to mind. Chamber of Secrets is a great book and I recommend to everyone. Even though I’m pretty sure that everyone has read it. This book is always fun and I like to hold onto that fun before the series gets dark and all I do cry….. Harry Potter is great!

A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger

12813860

F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.

I don’t know how many times I have to say this I DON’T LIKE INCEST STORYLINES IN BOOKS! SERIOUSLY! I went into this book again hoping to just have a good time but unfortunately the female lead isn’t great. She drinks even though she is underage and sleeps with her soon to be step brother and she is upset that he is choosing to pretend that what happened with them different happen even though she was the one that told him she didn’t want to see him anymore. I think the Duff is the only Kody Keplinger book that I don’t like. I couldn’t even finished this book but I’ve read enough books like this to know what the hell happens in the end.

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

9781481455978_p0_v6_s1200x630.jpg

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

I have a review for this book which you can read here. I’m apart of Emmmabook’s the Dreg Society which is a read a long for all the Shadowhunter books leading up to the release of Queen of Air and Darkness which I’m so excited about holy shit December can not get here fast enough! City of Ashes is a lot better then City of Bones as I feel like the story moves faster and the characters are better. It’s still not my favorite as that title is currently being held by City of Heavenly Fire *my baby!. Each book in this series gets better with every one in my opinion so City of Glass is awesome. I love this series and I love like Alec’s attempts to find his relationship with Magnus it’s so good! Malec is my favorite ship.

The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan

{720DEB15-5810-4C7C-8F62-6051D0C17FF5}Img400.jpg

-B: Could has better and was too slow and only got good at the end

I loved the first Apollo book. It was so funny and wonderful and I loved it. This book was not the same for me. I know I still like and I love these books I just like the first one more then this one. I don’t know I just felt like the first one knew where it was going and this one just doesn’t. It was all over the place and I found the humor not as funny as the first one. It’s still funny though and I love Apollo he is so sassy and funny. He is arrogant and a lot of people have said that they don’t like that about this series but I think it makes it funny. He reminds of Tahani from the Good Place because he name drops all the time and it’s soo funny! I still love this series and I will read the next book whenever it comes out. I think it comes out sometimes this year.

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

eclipse-cover-stephenie-meyer.jpg

+C: A work in progress. Okay writing, not so great characters and story line but pulled through and was readable.

My least favorite Twilight book. This book has so much Jacob in it and I hate it. He is so annoying!!!!!! I hate him so much! Also nothing happens until like the last half book and even then what happens is not that good. I mean it’s not that bad but I really hate Jacob and werewolves. Can we go back to the New Moon angst? Please! Also I find Alice super annoying is that just me? She is always there and getting on my nerves.

The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris

magic-misfits-694x1024

+C: A work in progress. Okay writing, not so great characters and story line but pulled through and was readable.

This is book is really cute! I picked it up because I thought the cover was the cutest thing over and I did enjoy the book. I thought the characters were fun to read about the storyline was cheesy and I don’t know how there is going to be a second book because I thought every was nicely finished. The writing at some points was kind weird but it wasn’t too bad. The drawings in this book were honestly my favorite parts as the just fit so well into the story. I enjoyed this book it’s cute and silly.

The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan

9780545341400_mres

-B: Could has better and was too slow and only got good at the end

If you don’t know the 39 Clues series was one of my favorite series when I was little and it is. I recently decided to re read it because I wanted to and I got Maze of Bones at a used bookstore. This book is a lot of fun to read and I honestly flashed back to like my fangirl days over this series because I loved it so much. It’s not that great and it’s super short but I wanted to read it and have a good time and that’s what I got.

Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

50ShadesOfGrey600Gb110712

F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.

I took notes while reading this. I hated this book and I have a full review coming out soon which is basically a rant. The characters are terrible, the writing is bad, and the story is boring. At first it was funny because of how terrible it was but then 515 pages it was so bad that I couldn’t do it anymore. The second half of this book is a complete blur as I just gave up.

Notes sneak preview:
– Oh boy

– Bella?

– Pretty sure she didn’t decided this but okay

– As tribute?

– oh poor you! you have to drive!

– Like a chicken coup?

– Rosalie?

– Wow such important information

– Do you hate her? Do you love her? I can’t tell

Slammed by Colleen Hoover

51CGB-a-tTL._SX320_BO1,204,203,200_

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

Oh Colleen Hoover I have no clue where I stand on your books. I used to love them but it’s been recently been pointed out to me how problematic they are. Let me just saying reading Slammed did not help me. I didn’t love as much I wanted to love it for many reasons. The relationship between Lake and Will is one of them. I just had a hard time getting over the fact that he was 21 and her teacher and I know Lake is 18 but still. I also didn’t love Lake and Will as characters they were pretty predictable and cliche. The back and forth thing is honestly pretty unhealthy in my opinion as Will knows that he cannot be with Lake but still he butts in on her life so that she can never forget him and then gets upset when romantic stuff happens. I didn’t totally hate this book though as there were many scenes where I was enjoying this book like the scene with Eddie’s foster Dad and the letter that Lake gets from her mom at the end. The poetry is okay. It’s cheesy and in a lot of this book. Also I founded a lot of class scenes really boring. I will probably read the sequel as I also checked that out from the library so I might as well read that.

Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover

point-of-retreat-colleen-hoover

F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.

Wow this wasn’t need at all. Inspiring authors just because your book is popular does not mean you need to write a sequel unless it is need. Point of Retreat is supposed to be about Lake and Will’s life after Slammed but it’s mainly just about Will as Lake is in like 10% of the story. Unlike Slammed there was nothing about this book that I liked. It was boring, cliche, and I hated it. Also the title is basically want they call it when they make out but stop before they can have sex. Yeah. It’s dumb. I won’t be reading This Girl as I don’t want to.

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

Breaking_Dawn_cover

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

This book is kind of stupid but it’s enjoyable. Seriously. I mean this is the dumbest book in the series but hell I made a good time reading so that is all that matters. It’s still not the best thing in the whole but it makes the headaches go away.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertali

9780062348678

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I’ve read this book three times and I love it so much! I read it first when it came out, then last year when stuff for the movie was being released and I got really excited so I re read, and I read it again because the movie comes out in a month and I’m excited and scared but excited! I love the characters, I love the story and the relationship. It’s just so wonderful! I think this is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s definitely a happy maker with a side of tears. If you haven’t read this book then go read it! It’s amazing!

This has been another Books I’ve Read This Month! 2018 will be filled of amazing new books that I want to read but i also wanted to read other books that I missed last year and I want to read some classics. I probably won’t make those goals but as long as I read some books that I have strong opinions on we’ll be okay! In other news I started a bookstagram account! Books I Read This Month! | January 2018

Hello and welcome to books I read this month! January / 2018 new year edition!!! SO I didn’t do one for December because I only read like three books. In case you guys are wondering I read 242 books in the year of 2017 which is amazing! January is always that time of the year where I read the most books because I read one like every day until I give up. I did re read a lot of books this month because I didn’t feel like starting anything new this month.  Let’s get started!

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings

31394234

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

This is my second time reading this book and I have an official review coming soon so look out for that. I got a copy of this book at ALA after waiting an a line more then thirty minutes but it was worth because I’ve been wanting this book for a while now and I got it! I read this book the first time when I was in a book slump and even though I still enjoyed it I wasn’t able to place myself completely into the book. I told myself that when the release date got closer and I read it and I loved it a lot more my second time around. I’m not going to say a lot because I have a review for it here and I want people to read that. But I loved it and if you are looking for something to read I would recommend this book.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

6567017.jpg

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

This was also I re read. I basically re read a lot of books this month because I want to read every single book on my book shelve and this was the first book on my shelf. I didn’t like this book as much as I did the first time but I still loved it. It’s just a fun story to read and I still enjoyed.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

91Dz0CVeJyL.jpg

-B: Could has better and was too slow and only got good at the end

I did a review for this book last year which you can read here. If you guys don’t know who emmmabooks is, she is a booktuber who this year is hosting a read along for Shadowhunter books all the way to the release of Queen of Air and Darkness. The first book was City of Bones so I read it and it’s also Epic Adaptations January book of the month so my review for the movie will be coming soon.

Because You Love To Hate Me by Lots of People

bylthm_covcomp19_ver25b15d.jpg

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I got this book on sale and man I loved it! This is my favorite anthology. I don’t usually like them because I only like a couple of the stories but for this story they were all great and wonderful and super dark. Also the booktuber stuff was amazing. I think my favorite one was Christine’s because it was so funny. I did like Sasha’s and Jesse’s and they were all so good! You guys should read this book because it’s great. All the villain’s story are just great.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

hpsorcstone

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

Um.. I love this book. It always brings me nostalgia. I don’t know what else I can say. I love Harry Potter.

The Silver Mask by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

The_Silver_Mask_cover

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I’ve talked about these books in the past and they’ve always been okay but this one let me tell you! I wasn’t expecting to love this book but I did! I’m going to make a whole review which is coming out soon. Basically the characters were amazing and I flew through this book and it broke me!! I can’t wait for the last book because it’s gonna be good!

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

25326840

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

I wanted to like this book because everyone has been talking about this duology for awhile but I wasn’t entertained and it was boring and none of the characters were great. I wanted to like though maybe that was problem. I have no clue where I should read book two but I don’t want to.

Chasing Red by Isabelle Ronin

chasing-red-isabelle-ronin

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

Pros about the book:
• Veronica is an good lead (probably one of the better ones on romance books. meaning she has a brain and doesn’t someone to tell her what to do)
• Caleb isn’t a terrible person (I’m mean he has his moments when he should shut up)
• their relationship is okay (not completely unhealthy but there a lack of trust on Veronica’s side that leads to the down fall of their relationship)
• it has funny moments (but has the book goes on it stops being funny)

Cons:
• it’s really boring. this book is 397 pages and nothing really happens until your 90% Into the book and it’s still not that great.
• you can predicted everything that happens. some parts are original but not a lot
• Kara (the sassy best friend chapter who is getting her own book) isn’t funny. a lot of things she says are weird and not in a funny way like an awkward tempted to be funny.
•the relationship is very fast like they haven’t known each other for very long and suddenly their in love and they live together
•girl hate. enough said
•there is no plot for this book unless you call Veronica and Caleb being ridiculous plot. there is plot in the first 20 pages and last 20 pages and that’s it
•look I’ve read better if you like romance you’ll like this

I might do a whole review because I have a lot of feelings on it but I feel like this explains how I feel best.

If I was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

if-I-was-your-girl.jpg

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I have no words. This book was amazing. It follows Amanda who is transgender and she is keeping this a secret and she mets this guy but she doesn’t tell him how she is. This book was so great and I would recommend it to everyone. It’s an own voice novel which means the author is also transgender. I just loved this book so much. I will do a full review later but this might be one of my favorite books.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

9781595148032

+C: A work in progress. Okay writing, not so great characters and story line but pulled through and was readable.

I enjoyed this book. I do think that it was overhyped for me and I did struggle a little but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. I will be reading the second book soon so look forward to that next month. I really liked Laia’s point of view more then Elias’. I don’t know why I just did. I really shipped them a lot  and I hope they get together.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

41bz6juMwiL

-C: Was expecting more than I got. Characters didn’t get any development until halfway.

This book was interesting and I liked the way it was written. The story was fine. I kind of wish more had happened.

Cure for the Common Universe by Christian McKay Heidicklet

23656453

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

It started as fun, quirky book but as it went on it became awkward and boring. The amount of video game jokes just about kill me and that he was sent to video game rehab makes me laugh so hard.

Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab

u34+1F!EVWH7ngw7NLVXIcKIKW2pmYA+Gl!w8rbMsYH!BRIAG5OUet9tcq9F2XjffXkZsjELHH1dotzfe59Az8458JDs9D0t2hphI9KAc!+WsW1OYzkgsRAdZgmVYczu.png

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

That ending!!! What!!! What!!! Oh my god I didn’t expect that to happen. This book is amazing! I want more! I loved the first book and this book was just as great and I should probably read more books by this author.

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

9780553536515

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I liked this book about the same as I did the first. It is a really fun book and I love the stuff with her mom and her brother. This book deals will with social anxiety as from what I’ve read social anxiety is you have a hard time going outside and making contact with others (i’m not a professorial) and I think that it did a good job (again I’m not a professorial). The relationship with Linus and Audrey is cute. I’m not like in love with them as a couple they’re cute but I wasn’t into it. I loved the family stuff more. It still bothers me that you never figure out what happen in the past.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

image

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

This story was incredibly cute and I loved the characters! I related to Cath so much and Levi is the best fictional boyfriend ever! This was a reread and I loved it more the second times then I did the first time. It’s just such a fun read.

Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfield

61gxs4axKhL._SL1109_

-C: Was expecting more than I got. Characters didn’t get any development until halfway.

I mainly wanted to read this book because I love the movie. It’s one of my favorites and I was really excited to read the book but I was disappointed a little. I mean the book is still really cute and it’s enjoyable and I had a good time but I was expecting more I guess. I still love the movie. The movie is really good. I would recommend you guys watch the movie.

Paris for One and Other Short Stories by Jojo Moyes

thumb

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

It’s an okay book. I mean I mainly just wanted to the story about Paris and I tried reading the other stories and they weren’t great. Look this book is cute and I didn’t expect it to be great or anything and it wasn’t.

So I heard like 24 books in the month of January but because I read so many and I didn’t have a lot opinions on them I didn’t put them on here. I might take only talk about the book I have big opinions on for the next couple months. For this month I either loved so books or I didn’t like them. I hope you enjoyed this review *many reviews and make sure to look out for more coming your way. You should follow my book club here and other social media links. Books I Read This Month! | November

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m talking about the books I read in the month of November of 2017! I have one from the month of October which you can read here. Aka the wrap up that I don’t call a wrap up because I don’t want to call it that. I only read six months this month and that really disappoints me. I had NaNoWrimo this month which I won so I didn’t get around to reading a lot but I still tried so. Let’s began!

The Rose & The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

the-rose-the-dagger.jpg

-B: Could has better and was too slow and only got good at the end

I read the first book in September and I started this in October but I wasn’t able to finish in the month because stuff is happening in my life. I’m finished now. I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it more then the first book. It was so good. I thought it was a step up from the first book and I really it liked it. it’s not my favorite book ever but I still I really liked it. I read this on the car ride to State and it kept me entrained. I would recommend this book if you want to read it or you enjoy intense romance books.

Want by Cindy Pon

want.jpg

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

I went into this book with high expectations because I’ve heard great things about Cindy Pon and the cover of the book looks so cool! But again I read this on the ride to State and I wasn’t really entrained. I’m thinking maybe I should give this book another chance but I just didn’t like this book. The timeline was kind of confusing and the characters were really dull. I wish I had liked this book.

The Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

savage song

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I’ve been wanting to read this book for awhile and I was hoping to read it around Halloween but I didn’t get to it until this month and after reading this book I can say that I wish I had read this book sooner because it was so amazing. I loved the character and I loved the story. It was so good and I understand why people love it. I can’t wait to read Our Dark Duet which is the sequel to this book. There were so parts were I would drift away but then I would be pulled back into it. Hopefully I can get to that before the end of the year.

Furthermore and Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

I’ve read some of Tahereh Mafi books before I read Shatter Me and that was a little over hyped for me so I couldn’t get through it. I found an arc of Furthermore and Whichwood in my house and I heard everyone talking about Whichwood so I started that one first before getting like a 100 pages into and realizing that maybe I should read Furthermore first. You probably don’t have to read them first because Whichwood is a companion book but I felt like I had too. Because I felt like I could get to know the characters before and understand the world more. I liked both books the same amount. Furthermore took me a little longer to like but because I expected it to be like Whichwood which was kind of dark and mysterious and I liked that. Once I got into Furthermore I did really enjoy it. Both worlds are really interesting and creative to reading about. I liked the writing Whichwood more because it was so creative and weird creepy and I loved it.

Dating You / Hating You by Christina Lauren

71b4yv3BLzL

+C: A work in progress. Okay writing, not so great characters and story line but pulled through and was readable.

I’ve been wanting to read a Christina Lauren book for awhile and I finally got to this book. Usually I don’t read romance books with Enemies to Lovers stuff because I get really get into them and I usually find the relationships not the best. Also a lot of time the guys are real jerks. I really enjoyed this book the characters with entraining at some points. I mean it wasn’t my favorite book like it was cliche at some points but it did ask about real things like working in the office when you are woman as Evie has a boss who isn’t the best and there are lines that talk about how he isn’t the best when it comes to women. I did enjoy parts of this book but I did think that the prank seemed like something out of a middle school book. It was good like I said I don’t like romance but if you do then I think you should read this book.

I know! This is an all time low for books I’ve read this month. Like I said I had NaNoWrimo which I won! I know I already said that but I’m so happy that I won because I’ve never won before. I’ll make a post about that later but a way this month wasn’t a good month for me as I also moved. So yeah. Things are really crazy right now. I hope you enjoyed this review *many reviews and make sure to look out for more coming your way. You should follow my book club here and other social media links. Books I Read This Month! | October

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m talking about the books I read in the month of September of 2017! I made a post for the month of September which you can read here and please do because I had fun doing this. If you are wondering what this is, it’s basically a wrap up that I didn’t want to call a wrap up. I read eleven books this month and I enjoyed them….. Some of them! Let’s begin!

Final Fall by Heather W. Petty

18883196._UY2114_SS2114_

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I have a whole review coming soon once the book comes out so I’m not going to talk about all of my feelings right now. Also I would like to thank Heather for sending me the copy of this book. I won it a giveaway and she sent me an arc that was signed and had a super cool bookmark. I was so happy to read this book before it came out because I could not wait for November. This book broke my heart. It was sad and emotional and I can’t believe that this series is over. I finished thinking that there was going to be a book four but then I remembered that this is end. Well I’m guessing it’s the end. I’m not going to be mad if Heather was just like here’s book four I would love but I’m looking on the more realistic side which is that this is Lock and Mori’s final story together. This book was amazing again I would 100% recommend this series to Sherlock lovers and book lovers all around because it’s amazing!

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

14061955.jpg

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

I’ve made to book two ladies and gentlemen! Is everyone proud of me? You should be because this series is hitting the over hype scale. The first book was good and I talked about it in my last post and I really enjoyed it. This one however was not as great as the first one I’m not saying that I hated it but it’s not the best thing in the whole world. It was kind of a let down. I mean it was still a good book but we were kind of just drifting along through the story and I’m really had hard time enjoy this book. I like Mal a little more than I did in this first book but he and Alina’s relationships was so annoying. It’s the hero move were they clearly want to be together but they aren’t and they get kept getting jealous and upset like it’s so annoying. Also the Darkling felt more like a footnote in this book which I didn’t like. So good book but the first one was better.

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo

14061957.jpg

+C: A work in progress. Okay writing, not so great characters and story line but pulled through and was readable.

Again this book was a let down. I didn’t really enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the first book because with this book I kind of realized that this book doesn’t really seemed to have a plot. Like the first book was setting everything up and leading up to this epic sequels but then with this and book two we honestly just feel like we are just floating around in this world and not really doing anything. And Darkling didn’t really have a path that made him good which made me mad because what the hell? You made me like him and then have him be a bad guy that feels more like a footnote to me. I was just so upset with this book and honestly guys maybe it’s just because this overhyped because everyone talks about it. Maybe her other series will be better like Wonder Woman or maybe I just don’t like the Grishaverse because I read Six of Crows *that’s on this list and again I find myself struggling to read it and like it. Leigh Bardugo needs to stop writing good books so that everyone will stop overhyping them for me.

I hate everyone but you by Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin

51qiSnm2q1L._SX329_BO1,204,203,200_

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

This is my second time reading this book this year. I got this book in July as an Arc and I read it and I loved it and then I started watching Just Between Us and I’ve been spending the last couple of months watching all of their videos *i’m almost done watching them. This book was on my Top Five Youtuber Books and if you go back and read that then you’ll see that I gave it an -A but now I gave it an +A because it took a whole second read to realize that this might just be my favorite book of 2017. Thing is I really need this book this year because it deals with a lot of things that I’ve been struggling with and this book just deals with all of it so well with taking away from the humor and not romanticizing anything which is a hard book to find now a days. One day I was feeling sick and my head was filled with a lot of thoughts because I was super stressed and I was trying to calm down so that I wouldn’t cry and have like a panic attack. I was watching some JBU videos and they were talking about the book so I just picked up my copy and started re reading the book and I just loved it soo much!! Guys go read this book and go watch their  channel. I feel like I should review this book. Maybe I will who knows but I like I have all posts planed out until December so it won’t be out for a while.

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh

23308087.jpg

+C: A work in progress. Okay writing, not so great characters and story line but pulled through and was readable.

I might re read this book because I feel like I didn’t appreciate the normal amount. I like Renee’s other books the Wrath and the Dawn and I’m currently reading The Rose and The Dagger so I went into this book thinking it was going to be The Wrath and The Dawn which it is not. There is definitely a difference between this and her other books. This book is okay like I said I need to re read it. I don’t really have a lot to say about it right now…. I’m sorry.

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

turtles-all-the-way-down-hd-cover-john-green

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I’m doing a full review for this book because I loved this book! The review won’t be out for awhile because like I said earlier I have the month of November and December planned out so it probably won’t be out for a while. I have posts out for November so that’s all filled out and then I have more reviews in December and then after that I have my favorites post things are so stressful right now. So safe to say I loved this book because damn was this relatable as hell! I got so sad at so many parts and it was just so good. I would recommend going to into this book not knowing anything because that’s what I did and I’m glad that I did that because I avoided me probably overhyping the book for me. I also got this the same week it came out so I also avoid all the reviews that also would have taken part in me overhyping this book. When I finished this book, I wasn’t sure about who I felt about it and then like five minutes later I was like ‘Whoa that book was amazing’. This might be my favorite John Green Book I’m not sure yet but I  really loved it.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

23437156

-C: Was expecting more than I got. Characters didn’t get any development until halfway.

I’m sorry!! I really want to like this book. Everyone likes it but I can’t get into it. It’s just so boring and I’m not at all entertained. I tried to read Crooked Kingdom too and the same thing happened. I just can’t with this. I’m sorry.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue

32319702

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

This. Book. Was. Insane. Like I thought it was going to be an LGBT+ contemporary that took place in the different time but then suddenly there are pirates and kidnappings and they are running away. It wasn’t what I expected but it was amazing and I’m really glad that I didn’t expect any of it because that’s why this book was so amazing. I love Monty and I love Percy their relationship was just so great but here’s the thing for a lot of this book I was just like ‘Will you two just get your acts together and kiss already?’ I would recommend this book to people who love LGBT books.

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy

9780062327185.jpg

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line

So I started this book like last month. I got the audiobook and I was listening to it and it give me so much anxiety that I couldn’t finish the book. I stopped at 100 pages and then decided that I had to go and read the actual book to see if it would stress me out less. Nope! This book isn’t supposed to stress you out, it’s suppose to be a nice book with a good message with some hard hitting moments. I was just so scared about everything and I just wanted Willowdean to be happy and I didn’t want anything to bad to help to her. This book though was really great though and I’m so excited for the film that is coming out soon and it’s going to be amazing. I love the message this book has and it’s just so great! I cried at some points which I’m not going to talk about because spoilers but this book is amazing and if you haven’t read then you are missing out. Also there making a movie and I hope it’s amazing.

Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer

wires-and-nerve-cover.jpg

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

It’s the return to the Lunar Chronicles Universe. This is a graphic novel which I was excited to read because I love the Lunar Chronicles. I did enjoy this book but there was just something about it that just kept me from totally loving it. It’s super cute though in some scenes with Wolf and Scarlet and Cress and Thorne and I enjoyed seeing things again. I wasn’t super happy that things weren’t working out in some ways which I guess is a different take but still I just want everyone to be happy.

Remember when I said I wanted to read something scary this month? Well I failed. Sorry not sorry it’s been a hard month for me. We’re sealing my house and then I had regions and school stuff. Also I didn’t read any F’s so hooray!!! But I still I only read a couple books that I truly loved this month that I didn’t re read. Look at for writing post coming next week and then my GamePlay for Life is Strange Episode two. I hope you enjoyed this review *many reviews and make sure to look out for more coming your way. Books I Read This Month! | September

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m talking about the books I read in the month of September of 2017! I made a post for the month of August which you can read here and please do because I had fun doing this. If you are wondering what this is, it’s basically a wrap up that I didn’t want to call a wrap up. I read 12 books this month which was one more than I read last month! I only read one F this month so there’s not as much ranting, ENJOY!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

cover-hp-6.jpg

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I’m currently re reading the Harry Potter books because it’s something I do like once a year and I started off September by finishing the Half Blood Prince for like the fourth time and I loved it. I love this book and I love Harry and Ginny and I hate that the thing happens at the end. You know what thing I’m talking about. Every time I read this book, I always get upset that the movie changes some many things. I mean I love the movie but you took some great moments out. Come now! I don’t really have a lot to say about this as it’s like my fourth time, reading it so yeah.

The Copper Gauntlet by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black

The_Copper_Gauntlet_cover,_UK

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

I read book one like a couple months ago and I really enjoyed the first book and I also really enjoyed this one. It’s very crazy though and I meant have to re read it though because I had to re read the first book. It’s a good book and I love all the characters like I love Aaron and Callum and Tamara and I love that he has a giant chaos wolf as a pet and it’s so great! If you like Harry Potter and you like Cassandra Clare then you will enjoy this book because it’s great. I ship Aaron and Callum which is something that has been happening a lot lately. I’ll read Cassandra Clare books and they’ll have two males in the story that have this great friendship and I’m just shipping them and reading into everything! I read Shadowhunter Academy and there’s that story with James Herondale and Matthew Fairchild and the whole time I was just like ‘get together! get together!’. They didn’t get together, they became parabatai and a part of me was like ‘Maybe their the parabatai that messed everything up’ but no I know that’s not true.

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

a study in charlotte.jpg

*WHAT’S UP EVERYONE! So it’s G from a couple months later and I reread the Charlotte Holmes and I loved it and I no longer stand by what I said. I have a full review so if you want to see by my new thoughts check that out here. Okay? Okay.

D: Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

Can you say disappointed? I was really disappointed with this book. I was takes on Sherlock and I was excited to read this book and I was really letdown by it. This book follows Charlotte Holmes and Jamie Watson and their great parents were Sherlock Holmes and John Watson and they don’t really find like each other but when a murder happens at their school they come to together to find out who did it. I liked the beginning of the book where it sets somethings up but after that I didn’t like it anymore as I didn’t like any of the characters. Jamie and Charlotte were so annoying and so was every other character that appeared. I was also kind of confused about the ending and I don’t even know if we find out who killed the guy like what? This book also has a lot of tropes about teenagers in it like most of time the guys were just objectifying the girls and the kids were all drinking and partying. I’m just so upset that I didn’t like this book! I so wanted to like it. I read the whole thing and I still didn’t like it. If you like this book than I’m glad that you found some enjoyment in it but as for me I didn’t and I wished I hadn’t wasted my time with it and I don’t like I’m going to continue on with this series. Sorry not sorry!

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriaty

big littles lies.jpg

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

THIS. BOOK. OH. MY. GOD! If you read my last Books I read this Month then you know  I was upset that I got Once and For All by Sarah Dessen and not this book and I didn’t go out and buy it. It finally became available at the library! I only wanted to read this book because I would sit in the room with my mom and I wanted to know who died and she wouldn’t tell me. My mom loves Liane Moriarty’s books and she has been telling me to read some of her books for a while now and I’ve finally read it and it was so amazing! I love how you saw the mystery just unfold in front of you and every detail affected what was happening. I was not accepting half of the stuff that happened at the party to happen  like I started screaming and my mom was just like ‘Yeah can you believe that?’ NO I CAN’T MOM! I wasn’t excepting that to happen. I had a thought in my mind that it would that person to die and I was still surprised when it happened and I can’t believe that person did that another thing! I was even more surprised with who killed that person I thought it was going to be someone else but I was wrong and I was so surprised! I’m currently watching this show with my mom. I’m debating if I should make it my November book for Epic Adaptations. If you don’t know Epic Adaptations is a book club that I do where I pick a book and I review it along with the book’s adaptations and then I compare them. Tell me if you think I should make it my book of the month for November because I have October (Handmaid’s Tale) and I think I’m narrowing in on my December book of the month.

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken

prosper redding.jpg

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

This was a book I got at ALA in June or July wow it’s sad that I don’t remember that. I’ve been wanting to read it for awhile but for some I didn’t read it until this month. I read it because it was the Booksplosion book of the month and I never read the book of the month for them because I never have it but last and this month I was lucky enough to have both arcs of those books. I didn’t not like Little Monsters but luckily they picked an Alexandra Bracken book which I was so excited about. If you don’t know Alexandra Bracken has written the Darkest Minds trilogy which I’ve only read the first two books I’m planning on getting to book three soon and she has also written the Passengers duology which I haven’t read yet DON’T JUDGE ME!!!! This book follows a boy named Prosper Redding who discovers that great something grandfather made a deal with a demon and then he broke it and now the demon Alastor is living inside him. I had a lot of  fun with this book and I’m super interested to see where this story is going. Sometimes the characters got on my nerves but it never really lasted long and I went back to loving them and this book was a lot of fun. If you enjoy all of Alexandra Bracken’s books than I recommend this book because you’ll have a good time.

The Bronze Key by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black

bronze key.jpg

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

This book….. um.. something happened in this book and I don’t like that it happened. Why did Holly and Cassie do this? WHY? He was my favorite and I loved him but now AHAHAHAHAH!!! If you haven’t guessed it yet my favorite died. They killed him. I’m not saying who because spoilers and I’m pulling for him to come back to life because I love him and I want him back. This book was also very good and I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t not excepting that to happen. I’m really upset. The characters were still great and entraining and it had some great moments besides that other one. I’m going to read book four but if my favorite does not come back then I will be super upset and just cry and cry and cry. Luckily I like all the other characters so I’m still going to read and finish series when the two books come out because I do enjoy this books and there are super fun. This  really seems like I don’t like the book I liked this book! I’m excited for book four because you know other things happened in this book and I do have to know what the hell happens next.

Fairest by Marissa Meyer

fairest.jpg

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I really regret the fact that I didn’t read this book until now! Why did I not pick this up when I was waiting for Winter? Why? Past Grace! What’s up with that girl being a weird when it comes to doing things? Fun fact about me I’m homeschool and I like listening to things while I work and I’ve been trying to get into audiobooks so I’ve been listening to them while I’ll do some work. Listening to audio books though for some reason makes things more intense for me so maybe if I read the book it wouldn’t be as intense. Like I was listening to the audiobook of Dumplin’ which for some reason got really intense like I had trouble going forwards at some points because I couldn’t take it and Dumplin’ is contemporary novel! Anyway I regret just waiting around for Winter and not reading this because this was amazing. In case your new here I love books about the origins of villains and this was so great! It reminded me of Lock & Mori and how you watch them slowly become the villains they are known for. Watching Levana slip into darkness and become a power crazy bitch was just so great! I really want to re read the Lunar Chronicles now because I miss this universe! It’s just so great! Marissa Meyer books are so good!

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

tower of dawn

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I’m doing a review of this book which is coming in like a month so like out for that. I have no clue what’s in it as I’ve only written like a paragraph right now so yeah really interesting. I went into this book with low expectations because if you been here for awhile then you know I hate Chaol. He just gets on my nerves and he was so whiny and mean and I have like six reviews for each book and for each review that I have for this series I talk about how much I don’t like him. Luckily my mom read this before me and she said it was really good and that’s always comforting when it comes to books. Sometimes.  I really enjoyed this book, it’s not my favorite. Like Empire of Storms is currently holding that title but this one was really good. If you don’t know in Empire of Storms, Chaol wasn’t in it and this book is what was happening to Chaol during those events of book five. This was going to be a Novella but instead it turned into book six which is nice because I got one more book before the final which I’m not ready for. This book was pretty good and if you are worry about this book because a lot of people are than don’t worry I really think you’ll enjoy this book. I’m excited but I’m so scared to continue on! *thumbs up with a worried smile

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

deathly-hallows

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

I love this book so much! I didn’t cry this time when reading it because it seems with every time that I read or watch Deathly Hallows I cry but this time I didn’t. I just got really sad because I love this series so much! Deathly Hallows is just such an amazing book and it’s like one of my favorites. It’s so good! I don’t know if you guys know this but I love Harry Potter.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

shadow and bone.jpg

-A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

I finally read this book and I’m so happy! I feel like I’m in on everything now because if you didn’t know this series an the spin off series Six of Crows which I plan on starting soon are very popular and like everyone has read them. I have read this book before but it was the middle of exam week so I couldn’t come completely get into which made me sad but now that I’ve read it I feel so good and I can’t wait to start book two! I’m really excited to get more into the Grishaverse because this book was good! I might do a whole review for this book or I just might do a review of the whole series depends on how I’m feeling. It’s probably going to a series review. I really enjoy this book and the characters and the Darkling! I love him! He is just so great! I didn’t really like Mal he was kind of like the Jacob of this story. He was just there the whole time and got upset about the things she did and I was like please just shut okay! I’m planning on starting book two soon that should be in next month’s list.

The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee

41pq4mRU8wL._SX329_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.

I think my goodreads review should say how I felt about this book, What’s this new trend of having sibling characters get together? I’m not liking it. Um… this was one of those books where the characters just party, drink, and do drugs and someone dies and two characters who are siblings sort of have a thing. It’s literally a different version of Little Monsters with rich kids in a hotel! The only thing that I kinda of liked was that a different girl who died like I thought it was going to be someone else but it wasn’t.

The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

the wrath and the dawn.jpg

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh is a book that I had heard things about but I never got started on. I only picked this book up because I watched a video with Renee in it and she was so funny and when she talked about her books they sounded so interesting. Then I watched Natasha’s videos and she said that she loved the Wrath & the Dawn books and I was like I have to give her book a try. So I did and I really enjoyed it this book. I liked the characters. The main character wasn’t as badass as I thought she was going to be but I liked the route they took with her because unlike most characters were they set out for revenge they have no fear and are dead set on what they have to do but this girl as fear and they let you know that she has fear and she wants to survive which is a route that I loved that Renee took for this character. The male character if I’m being honest I wasn’t sure if I was going to like because before I started this book I was told that he was a giant dick but he wasn’t. I really liked him and their relationship was so interesting to watch form and I was sad with how it ended. I have book two ready for me to read so hopefully I get that done next month.

And that’s it for September! I’m ready for October like October is going to be great. I’m being Wynona Rider’s character from Stranger Things who are you guys going to be? My goal for October is to read more scary books. But that’s my goal very year and I always fail because I can get scared pretty easily but I’m at least just going to try and read one Stephen King novel. I do want to re read the Alice and Zombieland trilogy….. yes I said trilogy….. I’m pretending like book four isn’t real (all you need to know was that I was lied too). This wasn’t as long as the last one. Maybe because I didn’t read two F’s and I didn’t have a lot to rant about. I hope you enjoyed this review *many reviews and make sure to look out for more coming your way.
