Screaming because EMOTIONS and a whole lot of Buffy references | The Carnelian Crow by Colleen Gleason

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing The Carnelian Crow by Colleen Gleason, the fourth book in the Stoker and Holmes series!

WARNING SPOILERS

C6_J-YDW0AE7Zq2

Rating: -A: Good story with characters that got better and a slow plot line

Oh my god! GUYS THIS BOOK LIKE I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO STARTED! I’ll start like this hi I’m Grace and earlier in the year I read this first three books in the Stoker and Holmes series by Colleen Gleason and I loved them. If you would like to hear my full thoughts on them then click right here to read the review. I was so excited for this book because the third book was so great and I love this series. The book follows Evaline Stoker, the sister of Bram Stoker, and Mina Holmes, the niece of Sherlock Holmes, and they are back at it solving crimes together and it’s amazing but at the same time this book fucked me and it fucked me up hard.

So I’m just jumping right to thing I want to talk first which was that I was right that we weren’t going to see the last Dylan! He pops up in the last chapter and I don’t get me wrong I was happy to see him but through out the book we are given all this development with Grayling and Mina’s relationship like in the beginning of the other books she calls him her nemesis but she doesn’t and they start began friends and IM LOVING IT!

I became accustomed to the feel of his leg brushing against my skirt, and I discovered I rather enjoyed the slight movement of the muscles in his arm beneath my hand.”

When I read that quote I was just dying because I ship them so much and Ambrose really likes her. He evens asks if she can start calling him by her name and I was hoping for them to kiss or start dating which the dating thing because he asks her out to the ball thing and I was facing palming when Mina was like what case are we going to solve by going to this ball and he is just like um.. we aren’t I asked because I wanted you to go with because I thought it would be nice.

Case. Right. Er…Miss Holmes, I regret to inform you that…och, well…that I had no particular case in mind to investigate tonight. I merely—that is to say—I merely thought it would be pleasant to attend the Yule Fête. With—er you .”

I blinked.

And suddenly, just as my bedchamber had seemed to shrink in size when he’d gone in to investigate the crow markings outside my window, so did the interior of the carriage all at once become much smaller.

Not in an uncomfortable way, but in a very… aware sort of way. A strangely pleasant way .

“I see . I -”

He rushed on, “I do hope you aren’t disappointed, Miss Holmes .”

“No. No, no, no, I’m not disappointed,” I said quickly, aware that my face had become undeniably warmer. I certainly hoped he couldn’t see what surely must be a bright red tint in my cheeks. “Not at all .”

“I’m relieved to hear that.” He hesitated, then continued, “After all, we had discussed perhaps meeting at the British Museum to take in the Japanese woodprint exhibit. And when Lady Cosgrove-Pitt insisted I attend the fête tonight, I…well, I thought of you.”

Now my cheeks felt as if they were on fire, and I shifted on the bench seat in an effort to move out of the small circle of light so as to hide the glow beneath my skin. Though it was so bright he probably could see it in the dark. “I am most obliged, Inspector.”

Oh Mina you are so smart but so obvious when it comes to man. Yeah so as I was saying I like Dylan. He is a good character, a big cinnamon roll, and he also cares about Mina but I can’t see them together. I talked about this in my last review for the three books, I don’t what them together because I don’t think that they are a good match for each other and I think Ambrose and Mina are a great pair and that really shows in this book as they work together and make something really great. But then Dylan comes back and he comes back because 2016 isn’t the same as it was before and he had to come back. I was happy to see him but at the same time I was like no. Dylan baby I love you but you couldn’t have come at a worst time.

Now let’s talk about my baby girl Evaline who is basically Buffy in Steampunk 1890s. I’m sad to say that #giveevalinelove2017 has failed. Evaline had such a sad storyline, I mean it wasn’t the sad I mean just the impact it had on her and the fact that she deserves real love makes it sad. So after the whole saying that if it came to then Evaline would kill Pix and then she hasn’t heard from him and then suddenly her sister in law Florence says that because of finances and Bram working on his novel that Evaline can return home to Ireland or she has to get married.

Evaline,” she began in a hard, impersonal voice. “It’s…it’s more than that. We… Well, Bram has been spending so much extra time working on his novel that he’s neglected our finances. Even worse, some of his investments weren’t very smart, and with the change in laws and taxes and tariffs…well, things are dire. So dire, in fact, that by the first of the year, we will be faced with two choices: go back to Ireland and move in with your parents, or…” She hesitated, then rushed on. “Or you must marry.”

Evaline is just like how ever heard of a vampire hunter getting married and I’m like no one.

It was part of my heritage. Part of my history.

I couldn’t…

But I couldn’t get married, either.

Whoever heard of a vampire hunter getting married?”

Normal girls marry vampires and Evaline isn’t a normal girl, she’s like Buffy and Buffy never married anyone. Also I’m thinking Pix is more her Spike then her Angel. I’m not saying that’s my official opinion but that’s what I’m leaning towards right now.

Evaline starts looking for suitors and she mets this guy named Ned *what a basic ass name but she still holds a torch for Pix and I feel so bad for this because I have a bad feeling that my baby is going to be alone. Buffy ended up alone and that’s because being a vampire hunter is no easy life. She gets engaged to this Ned guy and the what do you know Pix finally returns! I think it’s weird that I finally like Pix and then suddenly he has such a small part in this book. WHY?!?!?!

The book has kind of a sad ending as Dylan and Miss. Alder return yeah she was missing the whole book until the end. Then Ambrose arrests Pix because there was a death and he’s been accused of doing it and both Ambrose and Pix seem so sad because Evaline is getting married and Dylan has returned and he knows that Mina and him like each other and their both upset and I’m like no please don’t have them get all this development and then abandoned it! Please Colleen Gleason! DON’T DO THIS TO ME!! PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!!

Neither of them gave us a backward glance.”

Even though I loved this book, unfortunately there were two things I didn’t really like. For one the writing style seemed different for some reason and I don’t know it really enjoy that and for some reason it has like future Mina and Evaline like interrupting the story and I didn’t remember that happening before. Did I just miss that before in the last three books or is that new? I don’t know I thought it was weird. Also for some reason the feel of the book didn’t feel the same to me. It’s probably because Evaline and Mina aren’t together a lot and that made me upset because they are such a great team together.

Other than that I enjoyed this book a lot and I’m so sad that this series is coming to an end. We only have one more book! I DON’T WANT IT TO END! AND CAN MINA AND GRAYLING GET TOGETHER IN THE NEXT BOOK? AND CAN #GIVEEVALINELOVE2017 A THING? I’m excited for book five and I can’t wait to see how Colleen Gleason wraps the series up. I think I’m going to have to post more then once a week for a while because I have so much to do! Also I have a poll on Twitter for my next book of the month so please go vote on that. The choices are between the Handmaid’s Tale and Still Star-Crossed which is winning. Have you guys read this book? What did you think of it? Did you like or did you hate it? 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher BOOK review / RANT

Greetings Earthling! Today I’m talking about 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher, not the show, which is also my July book of the month!

WARNING SPOILERS

AND COMPLAINTS FROM A VERY BITTER GIRL

BUT FIRST A MESSAGE FROM THAT GIRL

HEY EVERYONE! So I need you to read this part before we began the review. I need to say  this because I have a feeling that I might make some people upset for this review. I know that we all have different opinions and the world and I know that I can’t change people’s opinions but I don’t want to hurt anyones feelings. So if you liked 13 Reasons Why then you need to not read this review. I say this again in the review but I’m going to give you this warning now. Okay? Okay. You can continue.

636274955462993937-2016165915_thirteen-reasons-why.jpg

Rating: D – Nothing seem to happen. The characters had a bad attitude or were boring until the end. Story didn’t know what it wanted.

You can’t stop the future
You can’t rewind the past
The only way to learn the secret
…is to press play.”

*sighs deeply of frustration and disappointment about the kids in my generation. So a lot of you have probably heard about the show that claims it is based off this book. It’s not, it just has the same name as the book. If you couldn’t tell I’m very against the show. If you like the show or the book then I think you should leave because it’s about to get mean. I’m sorry.

This is my second time reading this book, I read it the first time in like 2014 and I liked it. I didn’t love it mainly because reading books about suicide has always been a touchy subject for me. I gave it three stars the first time which is a rating I have given to another books that deal with suicide like Playlist for the Dead and All The Bright Places. I thought it was okay book that dealt for a subject that is hard to talk about, trust me I know I’m writing about it and it’s hard. It’s also hard to read. For this book and All the Bright Places, I know that these book have a lot of controversy. Some find them great and these books helped them but for people like me it wasn’t like that.

I reread this book because it is my July book of the month for my book club and because the show had come out and I didn’t remember a lot. I haven’t seen the show yet but I will. I started watching it but I could already see that it was different for the book and mainly because it was popular so I decided that I would wait for the hype to die down before watching the show. Like I said this book wasn’t for me but I still liked it then I reread it and I didn’t like it as much.

This book follows Hannah Baker and Clay Jenson, Hannah has committed suicide and Clay was a guy who always wanted to be Hannah’s friend or maybe something a little bit more but he never got the chance. A couple days after her death, he revives a books full of tapes that has Hannah talking about people who did things to cause her to take her own life and there are seven tapes which are doubled sided, making it 13 Thirteen Reasons. The only people who get them are the ones who have a tape and Clay is on one of these tapes. Now I like Jay Asher and I like what he was going for, I got to read some interview questions that where in the back of his book. He talked about how he went around and talked to girls and what they struggled in high school but the general theme of this book bothers me. Which is that love can heal depression.

This is a trope and an idea that has been passed around through different shows and books and I hate it. Love can help you through depression but it can’t heal depression. This is shown by the fact that Hannah says that no one really seem care enough about her and if they had then she would have been better.

A lot of you cared, just not enough.”

I hate this belief and I hate it keeps coming up in different things. Hannah also blames everyone for taking her own life. Taking your life is your own decision and even though things bit have happened to lead to this decision still you shouldn’t do that. I didn’t like the fact that Clay is blamed for not loving Hannah and not being there for her and it’s said he could have saved her. I just didn’t like it! I did like some parts of this book though. I like *well I didn’t really like but i found it heartbreaking how Clay wanted to be there for Hannah before she died. Clay is a good character and honestly he was the one out of the all the types that I cared about and he didn’t do anything terrible to her. Also even though I’ve complained about Hannah I did like her and she didn’t deserve anything that happened to her *no one deserves to go through that. I mean she got her first kiss and then a rumor went around that she and Justin did more then kiss and everyone at school started believe and then her friends abandoned her and it’s so sad.

Another thing that I liked is the message that our actions and what we do have affects on people that surround us. I mean one of the reasons that I think Hannah does these tapes is to tell everyone about how their actions effected her and her life. I mean Justin started a rumor that everyone believed and then her friends stopped being her friends and a lot of other stuff followed. One of the things that you should think about after reading this book is your actions and how the affect others.

The book also deals with what people think about you and saying terrible things about you and also rape. Near the end of the book, Hannah gets rape by a guy and it’s a really hard scene. Just reading it was hard. This whole book was hard. I’m sorry if you liked this book and it changed your life then I’m happy for you but it didn’t have the same affect on me. I thought this book was okay, I just don’t like the messages through out it. The only message that I liked was that the things we do and say have effects on people. I’ll be having my Spiderman: Homecoming review coming next week followed by my 13 Reasons Why show review. Have you guys read this book? What did you think of it? Did you like or did you hate it? Let me know! I hope you enjoyed this review and make sure to look out for more coming your way. epicbanner

So if you didn’t know and I don’t think you would know, I’ve had a book club for awhile. It’s nothing special I had two books picked out and then I forgot about it. I felt bad because I really wanted to do it but I wanted to do something fun with it. If you also know that I want to do more movie posts. So I’m going to do both! This bookclub will involve reading book and the film or tv show that is based that book.

I will be picking one book once a month and the review of the book should came out in the middle of the month followed by the move review at the end of month. In the adaptations review, I will give two ratings. One will be an accuracy rating on how will it matches the book and then I will gave another rating on how much I enjoyed it. If I pick a book that I have already reviewed then I’ll probably just repost that review or I’ll redo it if I don’t like it or I forgot about something.

My book for this month is one that I’m picking because I already have a post ready to get started on and I want to talk about. The show came out a couple months ago and you heard about, it was trending on tumblr for like week. Yep that’s right for this month I’ll be reviewing 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher and I’ll also be watching the first season of the Netflix hit. I haven’t seen the show, I saw like the first minute and then I stopped watching because it was already wrong. I don’t know maybe I’ll like.

I hope you enjoy these reviews that are coming up soon like 13 Reasons Why the book review and Spiderman: Homecoming review. Look at for that! If you would like to join the book club then click here to join or just stay tune on this blog to find out what book is coming next. Well that’s all I have to say about this, I’m excited for it and I hope you guys enjoy. Follow the blog if you would updates for when I post and follow my other social media links. ITS GOT CRAZY! | Mind Games by Heather W. Petty review

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing Mind Games by Heather W. Petty, the second book in the Lock and Mori series!

WARNING SPOILERS

Front-Cover-012216-Mind-Games

Rating: -A: Good book with characters that got better and a slow plot line

We were on separate paths, parallel for now, but still separate, our arms stretched across the gap to keep us connected. But the gap was still there, widening every day that I saw the innocent glint in Sherlock’s eyes and felt the black ash of rage staining mine.”

I reviewed the first book two weeks ago which you can read here. I posted that reviewed the first book on Twitter and Heather W. Petty liked it and replied.

Literally the day after I finished the first book, I was getting ready to write my review and I went on Amazon and this book was like 2.00 dollars and I was screaming in happiness. I finished this book before I finished by review for the first one. If you didn’t know these books follow a young James ‘Mori’ Moriarty and Sherlock ‘Lock’ Holmes. It’s sort of like a prequel to the rest of the Sherlock world, I think. I don’t really know. I loved that first book, it had a slow burning mystery, great characters, and an interesting plot line. I knew that when book two rolled around that it was going to be crazy and it was but in a good way!

That first book ended and I was just left think what the fuck is going to happen next because it ends with Mori saying that she will love Sherlock forever and she will never forgive him and I knew that it was a step towards Sherlock and Mori becoming enemies. In this book, the two have grew in distance. A part of Mori wants to forgive him but that other part of isn’t able to do it and it’s heartbreaking. I talked about in my last review how their relationship was heartbreaking because we all know how the relationship is going to end. That is still a factor to why it is heartbreaking but the main reason is because these characters clearly love each other but they keep pushing each other away. The once cute relationship has now disappear. The two are there for each other but they aren’t as close as they used to be. It’s mainly Mori who is doing this as she won’t forgive him.

I have rescued you, he seemed to say with his every look.

You have only prolonged the inevitable, I countered with mine. Sherlock had stopped my father from killing me. He obviously wasn’t sorry for doing that. But he’d made the call to send police my way, not even knowing if I needed rescue. He’d done it because he didn’t trust me. He didn’t care what would be best for my life or for my brothers’. He just didn’t want me to change. That’s what he’d said. He’d kept me from killing my father in some vain attempt at preserving what little innocence I still possessed.”

Sherlock continues to tried and make Mori forgive him but it doesn’t do anything. They do have one scene in the beginning where I thought everything was back to normal which was in the first chapter and they two are like practicing fight and it was so cute and then they kiss afterwards. I thought everything was okay but it turns out everything isn’t okay as we learn a couple pages after that. This book is a completely different tone from the first book. As the first book was more a slow burning mystery with suspense and light hearted moments sprinkled through out it, this book seems more of a depressing, psychological thriller.

This book has Mori slowly going off into the deep as she being framed as the killer instead of her father. The kids at school are tormenting her from being the daughter of a kill, someone is sending her threatening and mysteries messages, and the police are turning against her and siding with her father. People even attacked her brothers on their way to school one day. No one believes Mori except her brothers, Sherlock, and her mom’s old friend Alice who I loved for the whole book until the end because she ruined everything but more on that later. Like I said how Sherlock and Mori’s relationship has changed so has Mori. After what had happened in the first and the events from this book,  she is slowly turning into a different character. I’m not saying that Mori was some happy little flower in the first book, she wasn’t but she wasn’t like how she was in the book. In this book she was mad, angry and at sometimes she seemed paranoid. This side of her, I think started showing at the end of the first book. Alice even tells her that she sees more of her dad, a killer and a abusive man, in her than her Mori but again more on that later.

At one point, she gets into fight a woman who is accusing of killing people and Mori ends up on top of her with a knife against the woman’s throat and she almost kills her.

In my imagination, I saw hands covered in blood, only this time, instead of my father’s body beyond, I saw Alice dead, and Freddie. I saw Michael and Seanie cowering as our father moved toward them. All of that and more would happen if I went to prison now. And all it would take was a slice to stop her from ruining everything.

You would not be you anymore. I heard Lock’s voice so clearly in my mind right then, I half expected to hear his crunching steps behind me. I gritted my teeth against the sound of it and blinked away the hot, wet feeling in my eyes. I screamed in my mind that he was wrong, that I was already changed, that I had to do this!

But a tremor in my hand moved the knife and nicked her skin, and the blood drop that formed over the wound made me toss the knife aside. I crawled off her and away, until I was sitting in a pile of feathers that used to be Alice’s duvet. I thought Mrs. Greeves might get up and run off when I did, but she just lay there, coughing more than she had when I’d been on top of her. She didn’t even move her hands. She coughed twice more and her eyes were closed. Maybe she was sleeping, I told myself. Maybe she’d fall into unconsciousness and stay there. Maybe I’d already killed her in the end.”

I know it’s a weird thing to say but this was my favorite scene in the whole book. I loved how it was written. Heather W. Petty is such a great writer when it comes to suspense scenes because I’m like on my toes. I was reading this at dinner and we were at a public restaurant and I was flipping out!

Again we are lacking in John Watson in this book but it’s less then last time. I mean we got a scene last time and he is only mentioned one time in this book! His girlfriend though whose dad was a victim of the murders was in this book a lot and I did not care her at all. She and Mori have something that is trying to be a friendship but it isn’t because Mori is losing it and Lily is like not helping at all. Lily is not helping the fact that everyone is saying terrible things about her and at one point she is like we need to reform the group that our parents formed a long time ago and I’m bitch that is a terrible idea! They just killed all the people in the last group. Mrs. Hudson is again only mentioned and it’s about the same amount that she was mentioned in the last book. Mycroft is still in this book and his reasons for being there are sad because Sherlock’s mom is sick and we learn this in book one but not a lot of information is given about that until this one.

Sherlock and Mycroft are at the hospital a lot during this book and Mori goes over there to comfort him and their relationship slow beginning to heal and I’m like something is going to go wrong and I can’t deal with this! But yeah their relationship starts healing and after the events of Mori attacking people and people dying. She begins to think that it is all over and she’s like I love Sherlock and I’m going to be with him and I’m like yes girl go to him! She finds Sherlock but before she can go to him, Mori is attacked. So here is where that bitch Alice comes. Mori wakes up in a cell on some farm and Alice is there and it turns out she has been the one sending everything to Mori, killing everyone, and she is just like I did it for you. She then tells Mori that she is more like her dad then her mother and the whole reason she did this all because she wanted Mori to be her partner like her mother was but then she is like you are a killer like your dad.

Because you’re nothing like your mother.” Alice held the bars and leaned back like a little kid at a playground. “This wasn’t in the original plan, of course. I was going to make you my partner, the way I’d been for your mom. I even tried to teach you. But, sadly, you aren’t like Emily.” She blew her bangs up off her forehead and pulled herself upright again.

“You said over and over that I was.”

“Yes, which is why I sent you the cards. That was my test. Emily would have figured out what was going on ages before you did. But I suppose it’s good that you turned out to be lesser. There can’t be two of us. That won’t do.”

Two of us. I stared at Alice, wondering what in the world that meant.

“But you’re not like her, are you?” She smiled. “You’re like him.”

I knew immediately whom she meant. “I’m not!”

“Oh. Did I hit a sore spot?” Alice offered a mocking pout. “That moment in the hospital stairway I saw the truth. You actually put your hand around my neck. Do you remember doing that? Do you know how many times I watched your father do that to my Emily?”

She is the whole fucking reason that Moriarty and Sherlock become more and more distance. Mori was ready to forgive him and go back to him but then fucking Alice had to go and kidnap Mori and put her in prison! She ruined their chance at happiness! You are probably like maybe she didn’t ruin their chances well I think she did because the book like the first one ends with a line from Mori talking about Sherlock and how she will never cry over him again.

I traced my finger down the divot I’d made, and then I promised that these would be the last tears I’d ever shed for Sherlock Holmes.”

I don’t know what happens next. Book three comes out in November and by the title of the book I think it’s the last one as it’s called the Final Fall.

It’s gonna be crazy! | Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty review

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty!

lockandmori

Rating: -B: Could has better and was too slow and only got good at the end

All that precious denial disintegrates in a moment, and you’re left with the truth.

That life is fragile.

That letting yourself love people is the most sadistic form of self-torture.

That the fully alone are lucky bastards who never have to learn to live with worry.”

I’m a big Sherlock Holmes fan. I loved the show Sherlock that was on BBC and I have some of the books and I’ve read them and I don’t hate them! They are fun books to read *well as much fun as classics can be. I also love the Stoker and Holmes book which I have a review for here those are great and underrated and YOU SHOULD GO AND READ THEM IF YOU HAVEN’T BECAUSE THEY ARE AMAZING! I like reading and watching different takes on the Sherlock stories or have something to do with them so when I saw this book, I was just like yes I have to read it!

This book is the first in the Lock and Mori trilogy and it follows teenage James ‘Mori’ Moriarty *who is a girl by the way! that was one the reason i wanted to read it and Sherlock ‘Lock’ Holmes *who doesn’t go by that but Mori calls him that and there is murder that happens and Sherlock creates a game to see who solves the crime first and it gets crazy. What I mean by that is you’ve read or heard or watch the story of1Moriarty and Holmes which is that they are enemies and Moriarty kills people and Sherlock fights back. That’s the story and I knew that when I was coming into it. So as the book goes on an we learn more about the murder and Lock and Mori’s relationship starts to grow the more I realized that this was not going to end well.

This is the start as an opening to what make them in the future so the books starts off with them just meeting. There’s an alarm going off and the teacher sends her down to the basement to go and get him because Sherlock hangs out down for some reason. So you probably know Sherlock which means that the whole meeting is like spent with him asking her different questions about her personal life.

James Moriarty?”

“It’s a family name, and I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Not Jamie or something more feminine?”

I stared at him silently.

“Yes, as you said. It’s a fault of mine, always wanting to get the truth out of the matter.” He said it as though he didn’t think it was a fault in the slightest. “But surely there must be a story.”

“Really? Sherlock wishes to discuss odd names with me?”

Then they meet later and that’s when the games began. So they go to the park where a murder has happened *because that’s a great spot to take friends and Sherlock is like so how about we see who can solve this first and that’s what brings them closer together.

I have to say I enjoyed this book. It was a fun a little read and it does take that long to read because it’s not that big. There were a lot of things that I liked about it. I liked that we got a new look at Moriarty because she is our heroine of the story. She comes from a family where after her mom passed her dad, a cop, starts getting abusive to her and her brothers and she is really smart. We never really learned a lot about Moriarty before so learning new stuff was cool. I loved having her has out lead for this book but you could always see at some points were I could see her going the path is she goes in the future just by some of the things she said.

So you are a feminist?”

“No. Feminists fight for equity, which is an unsatisfactory goal.”

He grinned. “You’re not satisfied with equity?”

“Why should I be? Men aren’t. For all our generations, men have fought for control and power. Why should women be satisfied to be merely equal?”

Sherlock shrugged. “I don’t understand the need for power, really. There are more important pursuits.”

“Only those who have never felt powerless can afford to think like you.”

Sherlock was a little different in some ways that I thought but he was basically the same as he is in any version of Sherlock so you know plays violin, smokes, is really really clever. I really loved Lock and Mori’s relationship but like I said we all know how this is going to end so watching it developed and grow it broke my heart because I knew something had to happen to drive Mori to hate him later on. They were just such a happy couple and had so many cute moments.

You are brilliant.”
I bit back my own smile and said, “I am right.”
“You are brilliant and right, and I think we should… that is to say, I should…” He studied my face again, and before I could quip about his staring, he swooped forward and kissed me, gently and just long enough to separate this kiss from the quick and playful kiss I’d given him.”

Yeah that wasn’t their first kiss. It’s a cute scene to make you think it’s their first kiss. No their first kiss happens after the memorial of the first victim and she tells Sherlock something that could help with the case and he’s like no that doesn’t help anything and then she is hurt and then he says sorry and then she kisses.

I must admit watching the great mind of Sherlock Holmes struggle to ask even a single question was perhaps the best part of that wretched day. Other than the kiss itself. I caught my finger touching my lips and turned my back to him, looking over my shoulder briefly to say, “Looked like you needed a distraction.”

It’s a cute yet awkward scene which are most of the romantic scenes between the two but I love it. Still though I know what’s gonna to happen so it’s sad at the time. Other then the two main characters one of the things I loved about this book was the slow burn of the mystery unraveling through out the whole story. We start off knowing very little but these characters are so smart they just figure very thing so quickly. We learn new thing about the mystery and then we discover that the victims all knew Mori’s dead mother and they were apart of this crime team. Mori mets a girl who knew her mother and she tells her about it and that’s when Mori realizes that her dad is the one that is killing everyone.

She gets ridden of the sword that he was using to kill people with and then when you think everything is okay he goes and kills one of her friends that she was re connecting with. Mori tells Sherlock but it’s like one of the rules for the game that they tell each other and she didn’t tell him any of the information and they fight and then she tries to confront her father and he beats the living shit out of her and it’s so hard to read and I’m like emotional. Luckily Sherlock calls the police and they come and save Mori but then she is mad at Sherlock for doing that! She’s like you betrayed me and she calls me selfish and I’m like Mori you need to chill he did this because he cares about you. I thought she forgave him but then the book ends like this.

And there, sheltered in his arms, I made two startling realizations. I knew that I would love this boy for rest of my life. I knew also that I would never, ever forgive him.”

So it’s like this must been the start of their relationship going south. Which I’m not really looking forward to because it’s going to be so sad when In case you are wondering because I haven’t talked about we do have other characters make appearances in this book we have Mycroft appear and he is gay in this book and I was like cool.

Your creepy lurker persona? Yes, I’m sure that does well with the ladies.”
Mycroft might have visibly shuddered. “As I said, I’ve given up women?”
“For Lent?”
“When I was fourteen and kissed my first boy.”

He and Sherlock’s relationship is okay at best and I say that because they aren’t bickering a lot and there’s a line where Mycroft was talking to Mori as she’s leaving their house at night about how he cares about Sherlock.

Then we have one short scene with Mori and John and I might as I just say how mad I was about the lack of John Watson in this book. That is probably my one compliant about  this book was that there wasn’t a lot of John in this book. I mean he even made a appearance in Stoker & Holmes, I mean he wasn’t there a lot him in that but it was more than this. John got a short half a page scene and then he was mentioned like two more times and that’s it.

Watkins?” I said as a question as a question to the arm I’d grabbed. I was hoping the arm’s owner would would point me in the right direction and maybe even confirm that was the boyfriend’s name. Turns out I had unfortunate luck.

He scowled. “I’m Watson. But I prefer John, if it’s all the same. Let go of my arm.”

He could have been a bigger part of these books. He could have been like the narrator telling the story that would have been fun. I mean I know it’s about Sherlock and Moriarty but why couldn’t he have a bigger part. Maybe he does later on in the other books. I have to wonder if John and Sherlock met because they are going to school together and I don’t think Sherlock would not know of him. And if he did know of him then would he forget him and then would they followed the events of the Study in Scarlet when they first met.

Mrs. Hudson is mentioned a couple times but it’s not the same. I had such a fun time reading this book and I loved it. If you like Sherlock related books then I think you’ll enjoy this but don’t into expecting some action packed book because it’s a slow burning mystery novel it takes time and once it gets there is great! I just finished the second book Mind Games which was also so amazing!

Gilmore Girls Book Tag!

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m doing a very interesting and hopefully book tag which is the Gilmore Girls book tag! If you don’t know what Gilmore Girls is, it is a show about a mother and daughter and it is my favorite show and the revival came out and I have a review for that here. I’m rewatching the show and I really want to this tag because it sounds so much fun!

Let’s began!

Lorelai

rehost-2016-9-13-6da59c90-10a5-4a3f-b5ea-586aae88a9b5.png

A character with a witty or sarcastic sense of humor

Lorelai is my favorite character on this show, she is the heart of the show and the woman I want to be. I love characters that are sarcastic because I’m sarcastic as hell so I have a lot of characters to chose from but I think I’ll go with Mat Cauthon from the Wheel of Time series.

Avendesora

If you don’t know what the Wheel of Time series is, it is a cool fantasy series that I love. I have a review for the series here and a post on why you should read the series here. Mat is my favorite character in the series and I love him. He is so funny and he is always making jokes and being a great character. Like during that last book everything is so emotional and he is just there being Mat and I loved it so much!

Rory

rehost-2016-9-13-35c405ff-77bd-4760-8326-ad373299cad1.jpg

Your favorite classic book

Oh Rory look how young you are. I miss young Rory. She is so innocent and lovely, I mean I love her later on but not as much as I loved her in the earlier season. I don’t read a lot of classics but I’ve been trying to read more this year and I’ve been doing a pretty good job with that. But my favorite classic is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

2657

This book is amazing and I loved it. It is so inspirational and I love it and everyone should read it and lets just pretend that the sequel didn’t happen because I don’t want to believe any of that would ever be possible. No spoilers though.

Luke

rehost-2016-9-13-7cbaff3c-4969-4466-815e-473da34dda4b.jpg

A book you secretly love, but are afraid to admit

I love Luke and I love him with Lorelai. He is my favorite! A book that I love and that I’m afraid to admit is any romance book out there in the world because most of them are so bad and have like unhealthy relationships. If I had to pick one, I would pick Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

twilight-meyer

I guess my feelings for Twilight aren’t hidden as I have a fanfiction called Skyfall. I still like it though, I just don’t want to talk about it a lot because again the relationship isn’t the healthy for this book but I just like books are easy to read.

Lane

rehost-2016-9-13-4d05ad22-1a78-4f7a-91ad-668a9056c2cd.png

A Musical Character

Lane was a great friend to Rory and even though I’m probably the only one but I loved her and Zach together. I mean I did love her and Dave but he left so I couldn’t love them a lot. There aren’t a lot of characters that do music that I recall at the moment but I’m just going to go with my favorite shadow hunter Jem Carstairs!

CJ_Flowers,_Jem

My violin playing angel! I love you so much Jem. You are my angel. If you guys haven’t read the Infernal Devices, you totally should because it’s amazing! Jem is my husband next to Will of course. I have a review of this series here. Go read this book and if you have then what do you think of Jem!

Sooki

rehost-2016-11-25-f90229e0-3c33-49c0-bbb1-007999cb7ab0.jpg

A book you’ve devoured

Sooki is such a great friend to Lorelai and she and Jackson are so cute! Melissa McCarthy did such a good job playing this character. Oh where do I began! I’ve read so many books that I’ve devoured I don’t even know where to start! Let’s go with much recently so you probably know what book it’s going to be. It’s Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare!

los_cover

I don’t know when this is coming out but I do have a review for it, I just don’t know if it’s out right now or not. Whatever so if it is then just go to categories and go to Mortal Instruments part. Or just go to recent posts. Back to the point, there is only one word of this book and it is SHOOK!!! I had so much fun reading this book when it wasn’t making me cry for all my feelings!

Dean

Your first book love

Oh Dean. Your character was destroyed and it shouldn’t have. But how about that young Jared Padalecki? Isn’t he cute? And if you are like me and you watched Supernatural before watching Gilmore Girls and you didn’t freak out when you saw him and laughed your ass off when you found out his name was DEAN!!!! Okay back to the question, I want to go with Harry Potter but it wasn’t my first love, it’s just my longest love. So I’m going to go with the 39 Clues by a lot of authors.

kr_kidsread_042011_39clues_header

I have a whole post talking about how young gigi was hella in love with these books and she still holds a torch for them which you can read here. They used to be really be like these intense books for me but now I just find them fun which should just matter.

A book that you love, that gets the most hate

This asshole. I don’t care if you like, this is my opinion. He treated Rory badly, he treated Lorelai badly, and he treated Luke, the guy that saw the best in him when no one else did, badly. I don’t like that trope where girls fall for guys that complete assholes. A book that I love that gets the most hate is probably any fantasy book because with fantasy it’s either you like them or you hate them there is no in between. For this I’m going with The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

*i really love these version of the covers

I have a review for every single one of these books and again if you want to read them then again go back to The Mortal Instruments category and just go from. This is a series that doesn’t really get great until book three which I was willing to push through all of it but a lot of people aren’t which I think is a mistake! Just push through! Do it! And if you can’t get through Mortal Instruments then I would move to the Infernal Devices it seems like a better move.

Miss Patty

A book that was ruined by the hype

I don’t know why this was her question. But a lot of books I read are over hyped, I don’t know how it keeps happening but it does. You probably know what book I’m going to pick but here it is, I’m picking Divergent by Veronica Roth.

Divergent_(book)_by_Veronica_Roth_US_Hardcover_2011

I have a review for this book here that should explain how I feel about this book. I’m like so done explaining why I don’t like it. Just go read the review.

Emily

rehost-2016-9-13-b38abf63-c594-4ecb-ab2f-b69ed42ab4fb.jpg

An expensive book

Emily is great character and sometimes she can be unfair and sometimes she can be treated unfairly but she does love her family. I don’t spend a lot of money on books because I normally don’t have any money to spend on expensive books. But here an expensive book that I brought I mean I got it for less than the original price and it was a present but it still a lot. That book was the Wheel of Time Companion by Robert Jordan and a lot of people.

51zRGrAxrZL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

It was 26 dollars which isn’t a lot and I got it on Kindle but the hardcover is forty bucks so that’s why it took me forever to buy. I stilled loved this book though it was a lot of fun.

Paris

rehost-2016-9-13-13b5d775-c2fd-4e79-8427-6b620d0cbf99.jpg

An Uptight Character

I love Paris so much. She was amazing and she can be a little crazy at times but I have so much fun watching her go through life with Rory and Doyle. So an uptight character I’m going to pick is a character that has grown a lot since the first book but he was really uptight when we first met him. If you haven’t guessed it my boo Alec Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments.

CJ_Flowers,_Alec.jpg

Like I said he has grown a lot since City of Bones and has become a master of sass and I love him and I love Malec and I love the fact he has kids now but in the beginning of the Mortal Instruments he was so uptight and rule crazy. I still loved him then but not as much as I did now.

That is it for the Gilmore Girls book tag! I had fun doing this and I can’t help but wonder why there isn’t a Richard or Logan or Mrs. Kim question. I tag you all to do this tag and I hope that you have fun doing it. It summer so I’m hopefully going to get a lot of reading done and then I’ll do my summer reads list like I did last year. I post review, rants, and other stuff one this blog once every weeks. Like, Comment, and follow for more rants like these!
