Why I don’t like romance books…. | Rant

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m going a post which I haven’t done in a while and I thought I would do it.

Romance books is a genre that is popular and when you are a girl it is mainly the genre you are expected to like. Most books that are published are romance books and everyone loves them expect for me. I hate romance books. Now to add onto the statement because I’m not saying I hate books with romantic storylines, I am saying that I don’t like romance books where romance is the main storyline. They can be fun trashy books that I read but I don’t really love them as much as I love other books. I should probably say this now before I go on I’m not bashing anyone for liking romance books or anyone who writes romance or is in anyway a part of romance books. This is just my opinion. I will also be talking about topics such as abuse and unhealthy relationships so there is a warning for that as I feel like that should be discussed. I’ve thought about making this post for a while as I’ve felt this way for a while now but I decided to do it after recently reading a romance book that anger me every much. I’m also doing this because I want to discuss things that are in romance books now a days that I feel like people are overlooking or isn’t being said loud enough and should be changed.

With that said let’s get started.

Reason #1: The books tend to lack plot

If you follow me on goodreads which you can here then you should now that ever I read romance books a lot of the time I complain about them never having a plot. A lot of the time that is the case. Sorry but for me whether or not people get together isn’t really a plot for me. I mean it can be an interesting plot point if something else is the main focus such as the world is being taken over or if you find out you’re a part of a race called Shadowhunters or it’s a Dystopian society or one of the characters is dealing with a mental health problems or other real world problems. With romance books where the only thing to continue the story is the couple’s relationship isn’t really a plot. In books like the After series where the whole point of all the books is the relationship of two characters who continually break up and get back together. Some people may like this but I don’t. You can have something going on in the story other then whether or not two people are getting together.

Reason #2: Girls hating on Girls

This happens a lot in romance books, in some books it’s a little better as times have changed but I still come across this books. I wouldn’t call myself the best person ever and in past moments I have judged women on somethings and when I look back on my life I regret that because it is something I don’t stand by anymore and I don’t like it when I find this in book. Yes people can get jealous sometimes but just because a girl is interested in a guy that you like or because they are dating someone doesn’t mean that you have a right to judge them. They are allowed to be with whoever they want to be or do whatever they want to do and you have to be okay with that and not judge them. An example of this is in Anna and the French Kiss where Anna judges every girl that flirts with St. Clair and hates his girlfriend even though she has never met her nor has his girlfriend done anything bad to her. If you have your main girl hating someone have it be not be for slut shaming. Or why don’t we not have girls hate on each other? Female friendships are amazing so let’s just have more of those!

Reason #3: Boys being controlling over girls

Again jealousy is a thing but telling your girlfriend that she cannot hang out with other guys or do things in her life. She is her own goddamn person! Yes we want to protect the people we love but controlling their lives so that they are only focusing on you isn’t okay and that’s really abusive. Judging them for their decision is also not okay. Yes in a relationship you need to be honest but you also have to be there for them. So instead of telling them how they shouldn’t have done that and been stupid, how about you comfort them and support them. That’s the right thing to do! In Fifty Shades of Grey, Christian *does a lot of terrible things tells Ana what to do and gets mad it her when she doesn’t listen, forbids her from hanging out with her friends. In After We Collided, Hardin judges Tessa for kissing another guy even though they weren’t together and she wanted to move on from their relationship. He also makes her feel bad when she goes to hang out with Zed and excuses her cheating. If you are so insecure about your relationship that you have control your girlfriend then you probably don’t deserve her.

Reason #4: Unhealthy relationships

A lot of the times in romance books the relationship are unhealthy. The relationships are unhealthy as they lack trust, one of them is controlling and jealous, they break up and get back together. A lot of time they fall in love so quickly which is so annoying. Not really can the relationships with the main couple be unhealthy the characters can also have unhealthy relationships with their friends. They get mad at their friends when their friends get mad at them for real issues and their friends end up say sorry when the main character should be the one saying sorry. If it is the case that the best friend follows the stereotypical where she dates more then the main character usually slut shames that friend or makes fun of them for their choices. In the end the characters usually give each other and everything is happy even though it should have been brought into question as if they should have forgiven each other as they all did and said some bad things.

That’s it for this weird rant. I’m sorry if I offend you in any way. This is just my opinion and this was in no way a personal attack on you. It is just how I feel I thought it would be an interesting post. I hope you enjoyed this post and look out for more coming soon! What are some romance books you guys like? Reasons Why You should Read Stoker & Holmes by Colleen Gleason

Greetings Earthling! Today I’m telling you why you need to read the Stoker & Holmes series by Colleen Gleason! These books have honestly become of my favorite things ever. I have now placed them on my favorite series list because they are that good!

What is this series about?

This is a Young Adult steampunk series that takes place in London, 1889 and follows Alvermina ‘Mina’ Holmes, the niece of Sherlock Holmes, and Evaline Stoker, the sister of Bram Stoker and is also a vampire hunter. Together they try to solve mysteries and stop supernatural things from happening. It is wonderful, amazing, and so much find to read.

Evaline Stoker and Mina Holmes never meant to get into the family business. But when you’re the sister of Bram and the niece of Sherlock, vampire hunting and mystery solving are in your blood. And when two society girls go missing, there’s no one more qualified to investigate.

Now fierce Evaline and logical Mina must resolve their rivalry, navigate the advances of not just one but three mysterious gentlemen, and solve murder with only one clue: a strange Egyptian scarab. The stakes are high. If Stoker and Holmes don’t unravel why the belles of London society are in such danger, they’ll become the next victims.

I’ve been in love with this series for a while and I want others to read it so here are all my reasons for why I think you should read it.

1. It follows Mina Holmes who is Sherlock Holmes’ niece. I love her and I will protect her with my life.

2. It also follows Evaline Stoker who is the sister of Bram Stoke and she is a vampire hunter. She is basically Buffy and deserves to be loved!

3. It’s a steampunk novel that takes place in London, 1889 which is so cool

4. It had two badass female leads who fight together and not against the other

5. Each book has its own mystery but they are connected and wonderful and it’s soooo good!

6. Then there is Ambrose Grayling (my boyfriend) who I love and is amazing and stands up Mina!

7. Then we got Dylan aka my cinnamon roll

8. Other characters from Sherlock appear and even Bram Stoker

9. The books will leave gasping for air and begging for the next book

10. Colleen Gleason’s writing is fabulous! She not only makes you fall in love with two wonderful leading ladies but she is never predictable with her stories

Reasons Why You should Read the Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty

Greetings Earthlings! So I read a lot of books that a lot of people haven’t read and I decided to start a series talking about these books and why you should read them. I will be starting with one of my now favorite series Lock and Mori by Heather W. Petty.

What is this series about?

This series is about James ‘Mori’ Moriarty who is a teenage girl and lives in London with her brothers and her abusive father. She goes to school where one day she meets Sherlock Holmes. When a murder happens, the two make a bet to see who can solve it first but then as more the mystery unravels, the closer Sherlock and Mori get and the more she keeps secrets from him.

*yeah that kind of sucks so here’s the goodreads summary

In modern-day London, two brilliant high school students—one Sherlock Holmes and a Miss James “Mori” Moriarty—meet. A murder will bring them together. The truth very well might drive them apart.

Before they were mortal enemies, they were much more…

FACT: Someone has been murdered in London’s Regent’s Park. The police have no leads.

FACT: Miss James “Mori” Moriarty and Sherlock “Lock” Holmes should be hitting the books on a school night. Instead, they are out crashing a crime scene.

FACT: Lock has challenged Mori to solve the case before he does. Challenge accepted.

FACT: Despite agreeing to Lock’s one rule—they must share every clue with each other—Mori is keeping secrets.

OBSERVATION: Sometimes you can’t trust the people closest to you with matters of the heart. And after this case, Mori may never trust Lock again.

I have reviews for all three books which you can read here, here, and here. I’ve been in love with this series for a while and I want others to read it so here are all my reasons for why I think you should read it.

#1: It’s a Sherlock Holmes Retelling that takes place in modern day London

I don’t know about you but this is enough for me to get into a book. In fact that’s mainly why I picked up this book.

#2: It follows James ‘Mori’ Moriarty who is a female version of Moriarty and the main POV of all the books

It’s a gender bent origin story of a villain! How can you not what to read it??

#3: It follows her becoming the villain she known for and it doesn’t involve a man. She is driven by protecting her brothers

#4: Sherlock is one of the most caring boyfriend ever in YA. As he can see what’s happening and tries to do what he thinks is best for her so she doesn’t become a villain

#5: Mori doesn’t take shit from no one and does her own thing (even though it may not be right)

#6: They really care about each other which makes everything more heartbreaking

#7: Another characters appear like John Watson and Mycroft

#8: The writing is beautiful. Heather does a wonderful job creating these characters and showing what’s happening in Mori’s mind

#9: It shows that sometimes we do bad things to protect our families even if it means hating ones we love

#10: 10. It will break you emotionally and leave you crying

The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls by Jessica Spotswood review!

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls by Jessica Spotswood!

-B: Could has better and was too slow and only got good at the end

I got this book from Netgalley and this book comes out on June 5, 2018. This book follows four sisters who are trying to get through the summer and it has been described as Gilmore Girls meets Little Woman. I wasn’t excited to read this but I was interested in reading because it sounded cute and I only have sisters so whenever I watch or read something about siblings I just love it so I decided to request this book. I honestly won’t say that I loved this book but that I loved some of the moments in this book.

I really enjoyed the first part of this book but then the second part of this book wasn’t great. I thought that there would be more sister bonding and it was more like sisters and their love interests. They did have some good moments but I felt like they were more towards the end. I think that Des was my favorite. I don’t know I felt like with her story I was more present in that one. I did enjoy the other girls but I don’t know I just couldn’t connect with them that much. This book is like a Sarah Dessen book and I don’t know I can’t ever connect to the story with her books. They are written the same way and I couldn’t really connect with the characters. I felt like I barely knew them and their grandmother which sucked because I really wanted to.

I did like how diverse the story is. One of the love interests was bisexual and one of the girls is into other girls. I wish that thing with Paige had worked better because I liked her and her relationship with Des. I didn’t enjoy Bea’s storyline that much. I don’t know she reminded me of Rory with Jess and I just couldn’t get into. I do like the scene at the end where the girls all talk to the other and it was a really nice scene. This is a great summer read and it has some good messages in it. If you like Sarah Dessen and Gilmore Girls then I recommend that you read it.

Have you guys read this book? If you have what did you think? Did you like it? I hope you guys liked because I thought it was great. I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to look out for more coming your way soon. You should follow my book club here and other social media links. Unpopular Opinions Book Tag!

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m doing the Unpopular Opinions Book Tag! Before we began just a reminder these are my opinions and I’m not trying to offend anyone. I’m sorry! I haven’t done a tag in a while so let’s began!

#1: A popular book or series that everyone loves but you

There is a lot I could put for this question like Divergent, Little Monsters, 13 Reasons Why but I think I have to go with Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone.

……. I’M SORRY! I really want to love these books and I don’t hate them, I just don’t love them as much as the rest of the world does. I liked Shadow and Bone but I didn’t like the rest of the books so that me made change my opinion on how I feel about the series as a whole and I’ve tried so many times to read Six of Crows and I always come out not as in love with it as the rest of the world is. I don’t know! Maybe I should listen to the audiobook because I’ve heard good things about that.

#2: A book or series that you love but everyone else hates

This should be easy to guess but I’m going with Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard!

I loved this book! My Aunt got me this an arc of this book so I got to read it before everyone else did and I loved it! I thought that this was so much better then the first book and then everyone else read this book and they all didn’t like. They liked it but they thought the first book was so much better. I don’t know.

#3: A book with a love triangle and the protagonist ends up with the wrong person

*SPOILERS! This is one is very easy as I was so upset by this that I started crying. My pick for this question is Conrad and Belly in We Will Always Have Summer by Jenny Han!

I really enjoyed books one and two in this trilogy but then book three comes along and I really hate these books now because of what she did in book three. I hate Conrad, he is such an ass and treats Belly like she is nothing and abandons her. He is the worst. Jeremiah on the other hand was great. He treated her right, he respected her, he was just the better choice in my opinion. The second book ends with them getting together and in the third book Jenny Han destroys his character just to make Conrad look better and so Belly GETS WITH HIM!!!! I was so mad I just started crying because I hated Conrad so fucking much! I really want to pretend like this book doesn’t exist.

#4: A popular author you just can’t get into

I try to give everyone a chance but an author I’ve given like three chances to is Sarah Dessen. I’ve read third of her books and I can’t remember any of them. They all seem interesting and deep but in reality they are these fluff pieces that are like Hallmark movies and I just don’t like them. Everyone loves her though and I’m just like is there a book by her that is amazing? It’s not the three books I’ve read by her.

#5: A genre that you rarely reach for

In this order sci-fi, romance books, and dystopian. I want to read more sci- fi I just don’t know where to start. Romance books have honestly just become the same and I can’t get into them. They are the worst. Dystopian novels are okay I honestly just feel like it was a phase in time that’s over now. Also they all started to feel the same.

#6: A book character that everyone loves but you can’t stand

I’m going with Jacob Black from Twilight and Chaol from Throne of Glass!

They are both so annoying and they are the worst and I just want them to both go away! Chaol is rude and the worse and I don’t know why everyone likes him. How can you like him when you have someone like Dorian in the picture? How? Jacob is just so annoying. People say he is better for Bella but he is just as worse. He is just like ‘Bella why are hanging out with Edward!’ ‘Bella why don’t you love me?’ ‘Bella stop dating him!’ and I’m like shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up!

#7: A trope you are tired of seeing

I want to say love triangles because they are the worst but since everyone has probably said that I’m going with is douchebag with a heart of gold or abusive relationships being marked as romantic and real. Basically a bad boy character who treats the main lead like shit and is controlling and gets jealous but then they are secretly deep and kind and everyone loves him. I hate this trope. So much. Ladies if a guy treats you terribly and gets jealous a lot it’s not a healthy relationship! Can’t we just have a nice boy be our love interest? Honorable mentions for this questions are slut shaming, siblings sleeping together, underage drinking, and the chosen one.

#8: A popular series you have no interest in reading

I give everything a chance but a book that I started and won’t finish it or the series is the Bone Season by Samantha Shannon!

Okay I did give this a try but unfortunately the setting of this book was the something that caused me to stop. It is in just something I couldn’t get by which kind of upsetting because the world sounds cool. People have also gone and said that the setting where this book takes place is also something that is a negative for them. Also in the parts that I have read, it did some think the main girl was going to have a unhealthy relationship which I did not want. If you want to read this book I won’t stop you.

#9: The say goes “The book is better then the movie”, but what movie or TV do you think is better then the book?

It took me while to pick out one but I then I remember one of my favorite movie is based off a book and that is Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist!

Honorable mention is Ballet Shoes. I do love this book but I just connected with this movie more then I did with the book. The movie is a lot more funny and it handed the humor and storylines a little better then the book did. I was just more entertained by this movie more then book which is sad because David Levithan co wrote the book and I love him, he is my favorite author.

#10: A book adaption that everyone loves but you

I made this question up because I wanted to do it. It sort of goes with this tag so just stick with me right now. I have two choices for this one and I bet you can guess which one of them is. I’m going with Twilight and Thirteen Reasons Why!

Everyone loves this adaption and I just don’t. I have a whole review for 13 Reasons Why talking about why I hated it so you can read that here and I was going to do a review talking about the Twilight film but then WordPress like deleted it and I got lazy and decided not to rewrite. They are both so bad in different ways. 13 Reasons Why deals with hard topic but it deals with it in the wrong ways and it’s all over the place. Twilight is badly acted, the effects are really bad, and they made the characters so awkward. I just don’t like them. I’m sorry if you like them.

That was the Unpopular opinions book tag! I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings! These are just my opinions! I tag you guys to do this if you want to! I also I tag Maxxesbooktopia, the Past Due Review, and meltingpots. More reviews and other fun things are coming out soon so look out for that! The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas review!

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing the Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas!

+B: Had a weird pace and took me a while to like the characters.

“If you can learn to endure pain, you can survive anything. Some people learn to embrace it- to love it. Some endure it through drowning it in sorrow, or by making themselves forget. Others turn it into anger.”

Remember how I said I was going to do this review in like 2016 while it’s 2018 and I’m now writing this review. I don’t why I haven’t written it before I think it’s because a fine book that I don’t have a lot of opinions and a whole book that is focused a character that I don’t like as much as used isn’t as interesting. Also because of reason that have been pointed out to me that this series kills off POC characters and non straighter characters or puts them in stereotypes. I still like this series but I don’t think my love will be on the same level that it was on before. I case you’re new here I have reviews for all the Throne of Glass books. I have a review Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, and Empire of Storms, Tower of Dawn so if you would like to read one then click on the names of the books or just go look at the Throne of Glass category on the side. I reread this book because Aisha from A Chapter of Aisha is hosting a read along and I’m a part of it and for the month of March this was what we were reading.

Now this book isn’t my favorite in fact that was the reason it took me so long to read it hell just to review it. I just don’t have a lot of thoughts on it. I should have done it when I still liked this series. I mean I still like it but not as much. Weirdly sometimes it was fun reading this book as I was back at the beginning with Celaena and not with Aelin and all the freaky fairy fucking that happens in the later books. Dorian wasn’t in this book so that was sad because if you don’t know I love him. Chaol can choke.

I honestly don’t have many opinions on this book. It’s a prequel and it’s said that you have to read this before you read Queen of Shadows but honestly I don’t really see that as I read this after reading Empire of Storms and I was fine. Have you guys read this book? If you have what did you think? Did you like it? I hope you guys liked because I thought it was great. I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to look out for more coming your way soon. You should follow my book club here and other social media links. The Case For Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro!

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing the Case For Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro!

+ A: Perfect story with get characters and fantastic plot line.

“She looked like a whisper made real.”

*yes this is from last of august but i couldn’t find a quote for this book so deal

I have a review for the first book which you can read here and I also reviewed the second book which you can read here. If you follow me on twitter then you know that this series has taken over my life. I tweet at Brittany Cavallaro like every day I’m surprised she hasn’t blocked me yet because I’m probably wasting her time. I’ve been having dreams about these books. I had a dream that Brittany sent me an arc of Question of Holmes and when I woke up I was really sad. Every time I listen to a song all I can think about is Jamie and Charlotte. I really want this to become a tv show staring Harrison Osterfield and me because I’m insane and self centered. Last of August had me shook and I was so excited to get to the next book. But I didn’t have any money and I had already brought like fifty new books so I told myself that I would wait until I got it from the library.

I was going to do that. I was like slowly moving up every day but then my dad and I made a deal that if I worked out three times a week then he could give me some cash. So I did and I got my money and I got my ass to target and I brought a Case For Jamie and I went home and I read it then I finished it and then I didn’t know I felt about it so I reread it again. Basically I loved this book it ruined me and brought me so many other emotions and I love it. I did have so issues which is why Last of August is currently holding it’s place at the top of my favorite in this series. If you don’t know Last of August ended with Milo, Charlotte’s brother, shooting August and killing him and then telling Charlotte that it’s her mess and she should deal with it. Case for Jamie starts with Jamie and Charlotte being separated as Jamie is at school finishing his senior year and has no clue where Charlotte is.

Honestly this book reminded me of Gilmore Girls season six where the two main characters are separated and even though it is still good, it’s not the same and it can be kind of annoying at time as you want the characters to get back together and stop being stubborn. I loved reading about Jamie and Charlotte on their separate journeys but I wanted them to reunite and work things out. But just like Gilmore Girls season six, the separation was needed for them to grow as characters. Honestly one thing I love about this series is how to turns YA tropes on it’s head. For the description this series seems to follow the ‘Out of this world girl’ and the grounded boy who loves her and this series shows how unhealthy that can be. In the first two books, Jamie gets mad whenever Charlotte does something that he doesn’t think is right and it’s so heartbreaking. There is this line in Last of August that always breaks my heart and it’s “Jamie loves me because finds the world boring. The world loves him which it makes it boring.” This book is Jamie coming to turns with the fact that Charlotte isn’t some hero or icon for him to admire, she is a person and he is going to get to know start seeing her as that.

Another thing is that it shows how not everyone makes the best choices and one choice might be wrong in another’s eyes but to them they have a reason for doing that. So many people are sleeping on this series and I don’t know why! GO READ THESE BOOKS! There is a girl that was attacked in the first book named Elizabeth and she just disappeared after that and I kind of wondered what happened to her but then we start this book Jamie is dating her and I got upset. I knew that Jamie was still into Charlotte and that he wanted to move on but he shouldn’t have been in a relationship right now because he was using her to forget the past and she didn’t deserve to go through that. I was scared that she would be the mean girlfriend who gets in the way of the relationship but she turned out not to be. She called Jamie out on his shit and ended up being a good character. She’s like Mary.

Let’ talk about it because I always bring it up whenever I do a review for these book so the mental health part of this book and Jamie and Charlotte’s relationship. I said it before that I was scared this book would go down the ‘Love Cures Mental Health’ trope which I hate but it didn’t and I was so happy about that. From the emails at the end of the book with Jamie and Charlotte, she says that she is going to therapy and I was like ‘YES!’ because my girl has some issues that she needs to work out. Another thing I liked was the fact that they dressed that their relationship was unhealthy which I was so happy about. Before the epilogue and after Charlotte gets shot, they talk and Jamie tells her that their relationship isn’t great and it has a lot of problems. From their emails, it looks like they are taking a small break so that they can work things out so that they be together. That’s what I got from it. I think the final book will take place either the summer before they began college or we are jumping right to college. Even though a lot of my theories for this book weren’t correct I think I’m sticking with my original theories for the next book that it will end with Charlotte and Jamie getting engaged and that’s the question for Holmes. I think that the last line should be something that the last line of the first book like he always says yes.

Should i write this fanfiction? I think I should. Also I need like Milo and Charlotte to like work things out because I think that they could have a good relationship if they worked things out! I just want them to be happy! Also I think that Milo should get a boyfriend. That’s just me. This book broke my heart. I thought I was going to cry with every page. I loved that Charlotte got her own point of view because honestly I love her. She is my favorite character and with the first two books I loved the chapters where she gave her opinion on everything it was just so great. When I started this book, I just assumed that they weren’t talking because of what had happened at the end of book two but we then learn in this book that more stuff happened. Charlotte tried to get Jamie to take the fall and he got mad which then led to her taking the fall. It was just so heartbreaking to read and I didn’t see it coming. Another thing I loved was the flash backs that are in Charlotte’s pov and they were so amazing and sad and wonderful and the Holmes family needs to go to therapy.

Something I didn’t like was just how rushed the last couple chapters were. Like suddenly all these things were happening and I had got whip lash from everything happening so fast. There was just so much happening which was mainly why I reread this book because I needed to just reread what happened so that I could understand it a little better. Also because I love this book. I can’t believe that fucking Lucien Moriarty married Jamie’s mom like I didn’t see that coming. I thought we were just going to add a storyline where Jamie is going to have to deal with a step father which is sort what happened. When we met Milo after he runs away because you know he killed someone and he is described as having a beard and all I could think was Mycroft in the Final Problem with that weird fisherman beard.

I want Milo and Charlotte to have a better relationship. When she said that he had never cared about her, I got so upset because he clearly does and why did she say that!! All I could think about was in Sherlock where Sherlock can just forgive his sister like that but still gave Mycroft a hard time even though his sister was much worse then him. I just want them to work things out. Can I have a spin off about Milo? Because even though we don’t know him that well I want to know him more. I’m glad that this wasn’t the final book because honestly I still think that there are some things that honestly need to be continued now. I wouldn’t have minded if this book was longer but honestly I think that it is better that we are getting a book. I feel like with that fourth book we can watch the characters grow more and get a satisfying ending.

I love this book. I didn’t have it’s problem but it did address a lot of things which I loved. It was amazing and I think that everyone should read these books. Have you guys read this book? If you have what did you think? Did you like it? I hope you guys liked because I thought it was great. I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to look out for more coming your way soon. I like my next post is a Star vs the Forces of Evil because I love that show. You should follow my book club here and other social media links. I posted rants like this once a week every week. Books, Movies, and Shows that made me cry!

Greetings Earthlings! So if you remember in like 2016 I did a post talking about the movies, shows, and books that made me cry. I’ve been wanting to redo that post mainly because I’ve cried watching a lot things since that post and I felt like I should do another one because it’s becoming a long list. I will be spoiling so look out! Let’s began!

Black Panther

The most recent one on my list as I saw it today *today as in February 18. It was amazing and I want to watch it again because it was so good. IF you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It’s my favorite movie of this year. But I cried after the second challenge and you think that T’Challa is died. I knew that he wasn’t die as the movie is about him but I was so mad at the movie for doing this and I was sad watching the affects of his ‘death’ on his family that I started crying. It wasn’t like a big cry but still I was real emotional.

 Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls was that showed that I ever expected to love or break my heart. I started watching this show because I had seen some people talking about it and I needed a new show. Like Miraculous Ladybug I thought that this would be a fun show to watch and I spent the whole weekend watching it and I cried my eyes out. Season one was what I expected it to be but then I got to see two season and I cried almost every episode because they were so many emotions. The season finale broke my heart but at the same time it was lovely. It was just so amazing and wonderful. If you haven’t watched this show I highly recommend it.

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

I have a whole review talking about this book which you can read here and if you read that review then you know it fucking broke me. I had a lot of hype around Lord Of Shadows and my expectations were met. There are so many moments in this book to which I was having a break down but I think that the moment I had a metal down was around the end of the book. If this book had come out in a different time then I probably would have read it all in one night but this book came out in exam week which did not help me. I spent my whole week studying but in between breaks I read a little of this book. Then school ended for summer and I went up to my grandma’s for the weekend and all I did was read this book. I was tired and emotional so the more I read this book the more emotional I got and then I got to the point where I was crying. Then when I got to the end, I was in the middle of dinner with my cousins and I just sobbed. It was bad but this book was so good! I’m so excited for Queen of Air and Darkness.

I said it in my Spiderman post I cry watching superhero movies. I’ve seen this film twice and both times I’ve cried in the same fucking spot! If you don’t know this was the last Wolverine movie and so you have to expect somethings to happen but I did not expect to hit me as it did. It’s just an emotional movie and it was so great to watch and even though sometimes I have a probably with movies when they kill main leads but I thought that this one worked so well that I didn’t have a problem with that decision. It was just such a good film and I loved it so much.

Star vs. the Forces of Evil

This show! Like Gravity Falls and Miraculous I didn’t not expect to love this show as much as I did. The first season was so cute and funny and then that fucking finale broke me! I didn’t expect it to make me cry as much as I did. It just shows how much Star and Marco care about each other and what they would do together. Then I got to season two and in the beginning it was like season one but somethings were different as there was more mystery and more things to be learned about the world. Then those last couple episodes fucking broke me! I started crying again! I love Star and Marco so much! With the song and him learning that she had a crush on him but he was with Jackie and then Toffee coming back and her having to leave. The show just ended with the house and seeing what was left from where Star was was just so sad. I haven’t watched season three  yet because they haven’t added it to Hulu and I don’t have cable but I was reading some of the summary and I’ve seen stuff on tumblr and I started tearing up. I’m not ready!!! Also I’ll be making a full review on this show because I love it.

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

My review should be up already so I put it here. If you are wondering what this book is about look at the title and that will give some clue and then just go on goodreads and look up the summary because I don’t wanna cry no more! I cried reading this book because the relationship is so beautiful and wonderful and the whole experience of this book was just great. I loved so of the moments that happens before they die and then one of them died and I started tearing up and then other things happened and then another one died and I broke down because the book decided to fucking end! Then I reviewed book and I cried writing that review because I was thinking about everything that happened in this book and I just love it soo much! Favorite book of the year!

Spider-man: Homecoming

Again crying in superhero movies. I said I was going to cry watching it and I did. I have a review for this which you can read here and that was a lot of fun. This movie was amazing and I loved it and I cried. I mainly cried during one scene which was the scene where Peter is under a bunch of rocks and he is trying to get out. The scene was just so wonderfully acted, Tom Holland is an amazing actor and he is great in the rest of this film but he just shined in that scene. I was also freaking out because if you don’t know it’s a scene from the comics and my best friend Abby and who saw the movie with me and we were like silently screaming in the theater. It was a great time and I enjoyed it so much! You know I’m going to be a mess when Infinity War comes out.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

I did a review for this one and no one liked it which I was pretty sad about because I really love this show and I loved writing that review which you can read here. This was the revival of Gilmore Girls and it had four movie long episodes and the last one Fall was my favorite and I cried almost the whole time. I cried when Lorelai called Emily and finally told her favorite Richard moment. I cried during the wedding with her and Luke’s wedding. I loved that the name of book was called Gilmore Girls and that she was going to write. I was not expecting that ending and it broke my heart that we never got more and I WANT MORE! I’ve only rewatched Fall once and I cried again because it’s just so good and sad and wonderful!

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

upside of unrequited

I cried reading this at the worst possible time! I was back stage at a play and I had a small part so I would just sit and read a book. I had gotten a copy of this book from the library and I loved Simon so I knew that I was going to love this book to. I was sitting backstage reading this book and I could just relate to the main character with her having all these crushes and none of them liking her back but then she finally met someone and I was just like ‘this was the book I always need in my life!’. I started crying but then I remember I’m backstage and I have my whole face painted with makeup and I was about to go on stage and sing so I had to go put the book away so that I would stop crying! I then went and sang and tried to kidnap a girl *that’s just want i had to do with the play and then I finished everything up and I drove home and I finished this book and it was amazing! Simon is still my favorite but I love this book and I related a little more then I did to Simon.

Beauty and the Beast

Wow! What a shock! The movie based off my favorite childhood movie made me! It’s not like I made a post talking about how excited I was for it. Nor did I make a post about the original movie and I didn’t make a giant review talking about how much I loved this movie. But wait! I did all of that and I fucking sob watching this film. Beauty and the Beast just means so much to me and it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. Seeing it with Emma Watson and experiencing my favorite movie in theaters just brought be to tears and I just loved it. Also Evermore! Evermore fucking broke! When Tale as Old as Time started playing and they started dancing I was just like tears. I got so emotional that my friend who went to the movies went me had to hold my hand so that I could calm down. I love this so much! If you don’t like Beauty and the Beast and think it is unhealthy fight me!

This is Us

This should be obvious if you watch this show. IF you haven’t then you probably have heard about it. My mom started it and I would like sort of be in the room while she watched and then suddenly we started watching it together. One weekend I was home alone and I just binge all of season one and the episodes of season two that I hadn’t watched yet. I love this show but it breaks me into pieces. I posted a picture of me crying on instagram thinking it would be funny but then my extended family starting texting me and my parents to make sure I was okay. I don’t know why they didn’t see the text in the photo that said I was crying over the fact This is US and freaking Jack and the crockpot. If you haven’t watched This is US, you should and then you should tell me how much you cried. If you have watched This is Us and you haven’t cried then I ask you if you have a soul? Or did you just have better control of your emotions better then I do?

I hate Everyone by You by Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin

If you’ve been around here then you know that I love this book. If you listen then you know that I didn’t love as much as I do now. I didn’t cry the first time I read this book but one day I was having a hard time. I was stressed and super depressed and I was watching Gaby and Allison videos on youtube because that always makes me feel better but I wanted to read a book so I just decided to read this book to make me happy and it did just that. It just related so much to my life at that time and it made me feel better and wonderful and it made me laugh and I cried. I tried to get my sister to read it but she decided not to because she hates reading. I love this book so much. It’s a lot of fun and it’s very real and I love it. I read it three times last year which is something I never do as I only want to read a book once a year but I loved this book so much that I just needed it. This has definitely become one of my all time favorites.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Incase you are wondering I did put the book Deathly Hallows on my list but I did not put the movie on there for some reason. Basically every time I watch this film I cry. It just happens. One time I wasn’t even watching it but my mom was and I came into the room to make my lunch and I was listening to it and I started tearing up because it’s soo sad! But it’s soo good! Watching this movie just leaves me as a mess.

Orphan Black

So Orphan Black ended last year and damn I was scared about what was going to happen next because damn! I was messed up! This last season didn’t start off too great as some of the episodes felt like filler episodes and sometimes it felt like we were doing things that didn’t needed to be done but I still held on tight and watched and the episodes got better and better then the finale happened!!!!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!!! I was just sitting and watching everything happen and it was so good. I didn’t cry until the end but then after it ended all I did for about ten minutes was cry off and on again. I would sob some and then stop sobbing and then I would think about everything that had happened and then I would cry again. It was like that for a while. I love this show and the lead actress was rob from an emmy!

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

I have a review on this book which badly describes my feelings for this book as I had a hard time writing it. I didn’t cry while reading this book, I cried after I finished reading this book. I read this in one day like I went to the store to go get a present for my best friend which I did and then I saw a signed copy of this book and I bought it and I spent my whole day reading it. Then that night I was in bed and I finished it and for a second I didn’t know how I felt about it. I enjoyed it and I knew that but there was something about this book that I couldn’t put by finger on but then about five minutes later, I started thinking about everything in this book and the journey that the character’s go through and the mental health part of it and I started crying. I loved this book and it is wonderful and amazing and I highly recommend it.

Wonder Woman

Again I have a review which you can read here. I cried when Steve died and then I cried when she remembered him telling her that he could save today, she could save the world because if that’s not a perfect relationship then I don’t want is. It’s such a perfect movie and probably my favorite DC movie.

The Mindy Project

I cried watching the finale. This Final season I was basically just like ‘If her and Danny don’t get back together then this is my least favorite show ever!’ because I hated Ben. He was the worst and he took all of the humor out of the show and he tried to make her a boring person but then they got divorced and I was like yay! Then her and Danny started hanging out again and getting along but then there was the last episode and it was perfect. There were parallels to the first episode which was so much fun and I was crying and then her and Danny made up and I was so happy. I love this show and I’m sad it’s over but I’m happy with the ending.

Final Fall by Heather W. Petty

I have a review for all three books in the trilogy which you can read here, here, and here and it might be my favorite trilogy out there because damn it was so good! This is a trilogy about the relationship of a young Sherlock and Moriarty and watching the path the characters go down is just chilling and crazy. Final Fall was something I was kinda scared about because I did have hype a lot around this book and I got an arc and I saw that the size of this book was really small. But I understood why it was so short once I read because it all fit so perfectly together. I was so sad watching Sherlock and Mori fall out and watch her go deepier into the madness. It was just something crazy and wonderful and every time I hear Writer in the Dark by Lorde I think of this trilogy. If you haven’t read this series then I really recommend it because it’s soo good!

 Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Guess what? I have a review for this movie which you can read here. I talk about why I cried in the review and because this movie is so popular I don’t think I can talk about what made me cry but it wasn’t a very big cry and it was right at the end. I really enjoyed this movie.

Wonder by R.J. Palacio

The last thing on this last is Wonder and I haven’t seen the film yet so I’m only talking about the book. You should know what this book is about and it should be obvious of why I cried. I cried reading about the way the other kids treat Auggie and seeing how his sister and her friends react to everything. Normally in books you only see one point of view and that what makes Wonder so amazing because you see it from every angle.I was in the car when I read this book and I started crying and then my mom started screaming at me to stop crying.

One Day at a Time

I have cried so many times watching this and I love this show so many times. I first cried watching the season one finale when stupid Victor left before the Father-daughter dance and then Penelope went and dance with her and then Alex, Lydia, and Schneider danced with them and it was so beautiful and wonderful. They just care about each other so much. Then when Penelope decided to go off her meds because she didn’t want to have to tell Max about her meds. But she got depressed and started being mean to everyone and couldn’t get out of bed. Then when she made up with Schneider and they listened to her recording of her talking and I was just in tears because I could relate to it so much and I understood everything that she was saying she went through. Then when Schneider told her about after he went sober he decided to have one drink and after that night he realized that he could never it again and it was sort of like what she was going through. Then when she told Max and he was so understanding and it brought me to tears again. Another time I cried was just the whole season two finale. I was mess. I love this show so much and everyone should watch it.

That was the books, tv shows, and movies that made me cry! What books and movies made you cry? I hope you guys enjoy this list! Next up should be my Star review and my Gravity Falls review so look out for that soon! You should follow my book club here and other social media links. After We Collided by Anna Todd Review!

Greetings Earthlings! Today I’m reviewing After We Collided by Anna Todd!

F: Wasn’t a good read and a was a waste of time. Characters were dulled and annoying and so was the plot line.

“Just because he can’t love you the way you want him to doesn’t mean he does’t love you with everything he has.”

I wasn’t going to review this book because I didn’t think I had a lot of opinions on it but then I started my goodreads review and I wrote like four paragraphs and I still have somethings to say about it. Because it’s this book is so terrible and it’s been a while since I reviewed a book I hated. In case you are wondering ‘ Grace didn’t you read the first book? Didn’t you like the first book?” Yes two both questions. But just because I liked the first book doesn’t mean I have to like the rest of the books. If we are being real I don’t even like the first book anymore. I honestly debate about whether I even like that first book and it’s mainly because the relationship in these books is really terrible but they are more characters and a lot more scenes where the characters are likable.

So this book takes place right after the events After and Tessa is super upset that Hardin *still not used to that awful name only dated her as a bet. Hardin continually tries to win her back despite the fact that she wants him to leave her alone and he does it in the weirdest and creepiest ways ever. Tessa needs to get her car fixed and Hardin just takes without telling her. He also follows her, calls her, and whenever he screams at her a lot. He still gets super jealous even though they aren’t together. When Tessa is drunk and she drunk calls him, he goes to her hotel room and sleeps with her even though she is drunk and he is sober. When she wakes up, he keeps telling her that she wanted him and that he didn’t take advantages of her but I’m like Hardin you did. Yes Tessa said she wanted you but she was drunk and you were sober and you slept with her knowing that if she was sober she wouldn’t be sleeping you so you did take advantage of her.

I would just like how to say that I have no problem with big books but then thing about big books is that THEY CAN ONLY BE GOOD IF SOME FUCKING HAPPENS IN!!! Lord of Shadows is a big book and it is a big book that I love with all my heart but stuff happened  in that book *that book also had people i cared about. This whole book is Tessa and Hardin fighting, having sex, making up, fighting, breaking up, fighting, having sex, making up and it’s so annoying. There is six hundred fucking pages of all that. Their first break at the end of After which continues into this book last about hundred pages. This book as a lot of flaws the main one is that between the relationship is the main problem because it’s toxic. Super toxic. The beginning of this review has some great examples of why they relationship is toxic but I’m going to give you so more examples. For one Hardin is so super jealous. Even when they aren’t together he is still jealous like the scene after where they slept together when she is drunk and he is sober they are getting along but then suddenly she mentions that last night that she kissed someone and he flips out.

He is the worst! Hardin even tells her a lie just to hurt her and I’m like I know that you are hurt but you guys weren’t together so you have no right to act like such an ass. He leaves without telling her and goes out and hangs out at some other girls apartment and Tessa gets into a car accident looking for him. When she finds out that he went out and was at someone else apartment, he keeps saying how hurt he is and he does this all the same fucking time. Tessa was in a car accident, she is hurt physically and emotionally and you are saying you are hurt right now are you fucking kidding!

The characters aren’t the best. Tessa tries to be a strong heroine but a lot of time she isn’t. Hardin is one of my least favorite male leads I’ve read in a book. Sometimes as this book as chapters in his POV I would feel bad and think he was growing as a character but then he acts like an ass and we are back to square one. The character Zed is made to look like a villain even though he is just trying to get Tessa out of this relationship as all Hardin does is betray her and treat her like she is beneath him. He is does care about her and he loves her which he admits but he is trying to get her out of this relationship because he sees that it is unhealthy and abusive and Tessa literally says that everything Hardin has done is her fault which is not true. Landon continues to be my favorite and he is in like less then five percent of this book.

The sex scenes are so bad I couldn’t even read them. I tried to but the writing is so cringing. Half the time they have sex in public places or with people around and you have to wonder don’t they see? There is a scene where she leans back onto her desk and lifts her skirt and they have desk against the desk and it was bad. You have to wonder how can’t people see them. I mean she is an intern there is no way she has a private office and don’t people work around her? It just didn’t make sense. Maybe it was explained I didn’t may attention during any of the sex scenes because they are the same and badly written. Also I don’t like romance books.

Look this book has its flaws and I wouldn’t say that I loved it as I’m not a romance lover. I don’t know if I’ll continue this series unless book three is on sale or I somehow get a copy for free. I’m not saying it’s bad I mean at some points I was weirdly interested in the story but then Hardin would do something stupid and over react and Tessa would cry and I wonder how these two haven’t realized they need to break up?  Also is no one talking about the fact that the author took a line from Wuthering Heights and people are now crediting her for that line. Just me?

“Whatever our souls are made of his and mine are the same”

Speaking of Wuthering Heights this book really wants to be Wuthering Heights as both the leads are compared to Catherine and Heathcliff but hey AT LEAST WUTHERING HEIGHTS WAS INTERESTING!!! The author also really wants Hardin to be like Will Herondale which isn’t possible honey. There is one Will and you can’t replace him!!!! Will Herondale would throw up if he saw you. Will Herondale had a reason for pushing Tessa Gray *a good heroine because he was scared that he was going to kill her because he cared about her. Hardin just pushes Tessa away because he is insecure and he is abusive and he is such an ass. I think I like the first book more even though I didn’t really enjoy that book either as like this one it’s about six hundred pages long and nothing happens!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I should see the movie when it comes out because that would be one fun review.

Also the slut shaming in this book is terrible. Why do we always have to turn girls against each other to cause drama? Seriously? Can we just stop? It seems as if in romance books if you aren’t a virgin you are the bad guy or a whore and if you are a virgin everyone will love and you are an idiot which either of those things are true. I’m going to say this which is that as long as you are comfortable, being safe, and have consent when it comes to sex then that is okay. It just annoys me. Why do we have to put girls against each other? We should be fighting together but not against each other. Let’s write romance books with healthy relationships, good storylines, good characters. Okay? Okay. Writers let’s stop slut shaming, stop abusive relationships, stop making girl’s lives change when they met a boy.

Look this book is terrible. It’s one of the worst things I’ve read this year. The relationship is super unhealthy and this book is so fucking long and nothing happens other then them fighting and having sex. But I got what I wanted out this book. I wanted a read that I didn’t have to focus on and read easily, something that I knew I wouldn’t love but I wouldn’t hate *but i do hate it. Have you guys read this book? What did you think of it? Did you like or did you hate it? Let me know! I hope you enjoyed this review and make sure to look out for more coming your way. You should follow my book club here and other social media links.
